Complex cells could not evolve from Bacteria

ICR (Institute for Creation Research) is a leading, if not THE leading Creation Ministry regarding serious research.

They are noted for their serious, in-depth, insightful, and ground breaking research.

We have referenced ICR and some of the work they have done in the past.

Since they understand and do the 'how to'' and 'ins and outs' of research, they are qualified to evaluate the research of others.

The article to which we will link to today is not research ICR has done but rather is evaluating the report of a study done by evolutionary biologists and which was published in Nature.

Another heads up: Keeping safe on the Highway

It is approaching time for spring and summer vacations and, for many, driving will likely be a main mode of travel.

And even if you are 'only' going shopping or running errands ---

Some wise and helpful information was posted on AOL recently.

Seems that it is not as 'safe' out there on the roads as it used to be.

So, some very wise and helpful advice was given.  HERE'S THE LINK

A bowling lane where?

Years ago I worked at a place where there was an ancient bowling lane in a basement.

It was apparently a 'left over' antique bowling lane from long long ago, perhaps from the early 1900s.

It was soooooo old that you had to set up your own pins, run back and bowl a ball, knock down some pins, go back and set them up again, and etc.

Well, things have definitely changed.

Now there is a bowling lane in a most unusual location.

My question is, "Why didn't these folks just get the WII sports or WII Resort Sports"?

They could have saved a ton of money and had just as much fun.

Oh, well.

Anyway, to see this most unusual location, HERE'S THE LINK

The 12 Biggest Ripoffs in America

Three cheers for Email.

Email is not a ripoff because it is free.

And Email has been a great help again.

What do I mean?

Well, recently I was talking with a person on the (gasp) phone !!

Yes some of us still actually talk on a phone while the rest of the world seems to only text or tweet when they communicate.  Hmmm.

And texting and tweeting IS a ripoff as you will soon see.

So there !

Anyway, shortly after the phone call, I got an email with a link to a very interesting article.

You don't really have to ask what it is about since the title of today's link gives it away.

So, with that said, HERE'S THE LINK

Bible Maps

The new technology today seems to be doing away with maps.

Everyone now just looks on their smart phones and away they go following the GPS provided map information.

But, those smart phones still are lacking when it comes to Biblical Maps.

So, the link today will take you to an amazing and comprehensive Map Site.

No, these are not cartoon clip art maps as shown in our illustration today.

They are real maps with a lot of information.

This is a site that you will want to click into your favorites and use as you read and study your Bible.

Did the Resurrection Really Happen?

Yesterday Christians all around the world celebrated Resurrection Day as they rejoiced in the fact that almost 2000 years ago Christ arose from death after having died to pay the debt for their sins.

And because of His resurrection, anyone who repents of his or her sins and accepts His free gift of salvation will be forgiven of their sins and will live with him forever in His heaven.

But, alas, there are some folks who doubt that Jesus even lived, much less that He died and rose again and is still and forever alive.

What can be said to those who do not believe that Jesus is Who He says He is (God and the Son of God) and who, therefore, will miss out on His free gift of salvation.

What can be said?

Well, Dr. Tommy Mitchell (a Medical Doctor) addresses these questions and others to them and to you, if you are one of the skeptics. HERE'S THE LINK

Yes! Christ Arose ! He arose from the Dead! And He lives TODAY!

Today Christians around the world Celebrate Christ's Resurrection.

Almost 2000 years ago, The Lord God Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the required death penalty for my (and everyone’s) sins.

Three days and nights passed while he was in the grave.

But then, HE AROSE from the dead !!!

He was Resurrected to new life!!!

And because He arose, we, too, can live with Him forever IF we confess and turn from our sins and accept the free gift of His substitute death as payment for our sins.

Jesus explained this amazing transaction to Nicodemus in these words:

John 3:14-18

... And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ...

What is my response to this?

Well, Robert Shaw, the Chamber Singers, and the Atlanta Symphony orchestra express my response in this 3 minutes 28 seconds video.   HERE’S THE LINK.

Time Magazine asks "What if there's no Hell"

Time Magazine has asked this question on its cover as Easter Week is being observed by Christians all around the world.

Interesting timing.

The magazine also has a feature article about the controversy over Rob Bell and his latest book, Love Wins.

You will recall that we mentioned Bell and his book a few days ago, on May 17.

In his book he presented several controversial topics including questioning the existence of Hell.

These are serious topics with significant ramifications and, therefore, need to be seriously addressed.

Fortunately they have been addressed by Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr., the President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

His brief article is a 'must read'.   HERE'S THE LINK

The Second Temple (Herod's Temple) -- The Temple Jesus knew

We are in the midst of Passover week.

This is the week in which the Lord God Jesus Christ was crucified and died to pay the penalty for the sins of mankind.

Then after having paid that penalty, He arose again to life after having spent 3 days and nights in the tomb.

Yes, He was really dead.

And Yes, He really came back to life!

Shortly before His death and resurrection, while speaking to His apostles, He told them that the Temple (The Second Temple / Herod's Temple) would be destroyed.

There is a website with Virtual Reconstruction images of that very temple, the one where He and His disciples worshiped, visited, and in which He taught.

This is the very Temple that Jesus predicted its soon destruction.

You might like to see what they were seeing as Jesus spoke to them just a very short time before His death and resurrection.

You will want to bookmark this site. HERE'S THE LINK

Jewish Feasts and Holy Days

Yesterday, as you know, was Passover, one of the many annual Feast and Holy Days for the Jewish people.

But, these days also have great significance to Christians.

Why?

Because the Feasts and Holy Days observed by the Jewish people are prophetic pictures of future events.

Many of these future events have already been fulfilled.

Some, in particular the Fall Feasts, have yet to be fulfilled.

Most Jews have not understood that the Feasts and Holy Days they celebrate are not only important occasions to worship their God but that they also picture future prophetic events.

Most Christians do understand.

In fact, on our Bible Studies Website, as part of the Leviticus series of lessons, we have 4 lessons (Leviticus Lesson 15,16, 17,18) which delve into the Feasts in great detail. If you would like to read or do those lessons HERE'S THE LINK.

That link will take you to the long list of our studies. Scroll down to the Leviticus series and then look for Lessons 15-18.  They are FREE, downloadable (you can print them out and work them off line), and very informative.

But, back to the topic at hand -- which is the Jewish Feasts and Holy Days --

There is a website 'out there' on the net which you will surely find helpful since the special days change from year to year.

Hence it is not easy to 'keep up' with when the specific dates will occur.

To go to that website (and you will probably want to save it to your bookmarks) HERE'S THE LINK

Today is Passover

As you know, this is a special time of the year for both Jews and Christians.

And both groups have special things they do and think about on this day.

One of the 'special things' has to do with the the Afikomen and the Zeroa.

The what? you ask.

Well, the Jewish Sedar supper observed at passover incorporates the Afikomen and the Zeroa as part of the meal.

The interpretation of what these items mean differs with the two groups in that for the Jews, these are actually pictures of what the Christians understand to have been fulfilled prophecy.

To what am I referring?

Well, an article will explain this for you in more detail.  HERE'S THE LINK

Rob Bell and the Emerging Church

Rob Bell has written several books, NONE of which we recommend that you read.

Why?

Well, this article will explain.  HERE'S THE LINK

And HERE IS A LINK to an article telling about a book that is refuting Bell's book.

And to read an interview with Rob Bell, HERE'S A LINK

As you can see, there is a lot of discussion and controversy going on about this book and Rob Bell's views.

So, bottom line -- pay attention. Read between the lines when necessary. And be very careful. Sometimes views are disguised or covered over but they are still present and can wreck havoc on true Thelology if one is not careful.

Football in the Spring? How can this be?

For some folks, today is a very special, long awaited, and eagerly anticipated day.

Why?

Well, because all around the country various college teams are having their 'end of spring practice', 'how are we doing', football games.

No, they are not 'real' games with teams from other schools.

Rather they are the 'orange and white' or 'red and white' or 'crimson and gold' or whatever the school colors are -- with the players duking it out among themselves.

So, for you football fans, enjoy your team today as you dream of the National Title that you will surely win this coming year.

Or, maybe not.

But, whatever, enjoy your special game and, ahem, I will be watching also.

It is April 15 -- Are your taxes finished?

For many folks April 15 is dreaded because they haven't finished filling out their tax forms.

But this year everyone gets a brief reprieve in that this year your taxes do not have to be 'in' until Monday April 18!

Wow!

Amazing.

But why?

Well, I checked various calendars and saw no national holiday, no president's day, no Secretaries day, or whatever.

So, WHY has there been this reprieve from April 15 to April 18?

Well, it seems that there is a holiday after all.

What is it?

An article on the net provided this interesting reason:

"The traditional tax return filing deadline is April 15 of each year, but the IRS has approved April 18, 2011 as the tax filing deadline for 2010 Tax Returns and extension requests in observation of Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia."

Knew you would want to know.

And, now, since you are probably still busy, instead of providing a link to click to today, you can go back to working on your taxes.

Time Lapse Video

Through the years we have seen time lapse videos of flowers blooming, grass growing, chickens hatching, and all kinds of interesting things.

Indeed, the picture today is of a time lapse camera that you can put in your garden to get those amazing pictures of flowers blooming, plants growing, etc.

But the time lapse video we found for today's DIT is unusual for several reasons (and was not made with the garden camera shown above.)

First, it is a time lapse video of a flight from San Francisco to Paris!

You will see lots of land, cities, clouds, and more.

The 'more' is especially interesting as you will actually see the Northern Lights !

Yes, the Aurora borealis !!

Years and years ago (shortly after the Wright Brothers invented the airplane -- well not THAT long ago, but close), I, too, saw the Northern Lights while flying from England to America.

What a sight that was and this time lapse video accurately depicts what I saw and still remember to this day.

I was only able to take a few pictures using slide film (remember that?) so only got some static images.

But this 2 minute time lapse video is really neat and more detailed.  HERE'S THE LINK

Gas prices got you worried?

Seems that every day the price of gasoline goes up.

So, what to do?

You can waste a lot of time and gas driving around checking the prices at gas stations in your area or worse on the other side of town.

In the old days when telephones had dials and buttons and were tethered with a cord to the wall, one could get out the phone book (do they still exist?) and 'let your fingers do the walking by calling various places for information.

Well, those days are becoming ancient history --

But in our new day of wireless everything and the internet, you can still let your fingers do the walking.

What do I mean?

Well, there is a website that will let you type in your zip code and zippeeedeedoodah up will come a map showing the nearby gas stations and their prices.  Yayyyy.

So get out your computer or your smart phone and start checking. HERE'S THE LINK

Star Size Comparison

Yesterday we looked at the Milky Way.

And it looked like a bazillion (Is there such a word?) -- well more than a bazillion tiny bright dots -- the stars, planets, nebulae, etc.

But, did you click through to the link at the bottom of the last link to see the next thing that NASA had to show us?

Well, if you did, then you know what you are being introduced to now.

And that is a brief 2 minute 34 second video of a Star size comparison.

We all know about the sun, our big star, pictured here, but it is small compared to most stars.

Those tiny dots of light in the sky (stars, planets, nebulae, etc.) are not tiny at all;  this video will give you and idea of how BIG they really are.

As you watch this video ask yourself, "Did this happen by chance? Or is the Bible true when it says in Genesis 1: 14-19 that on Day Four He made … the STARS…"

1:14  kjv And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

So think on those things as you view this video (oh, and one more thing, there is an ad that comes up at the bottom of the video. Click the X to close it.)

OK, with that said, at long last  HERE'S THE LINK

The Milky Way

'City folks', which most of us are to one degree or another, are not able to really see the sky.

We think we can see the sky but most stars, planets, nebulae, etc. are dimmed out by the ambient lights of the city even when stargazing in the nearby countryside of a city or town.

While on a rafting / camping trip in the Grand Canyon years ago, I was able to see the Milky Way in this dazzling way since there were no lights anywhere nearby to interfere. But, being deep in the canyon, the entire scope of the Milky Way, of course, could not be seen.

However, if we had been camping on the top of the canyon it would have looked something like the pictures being posted today as our DIT.

And WOW!  To see what we 'city folks' have been missing, HERE'S THE LINK

Car Parts made of Mushrooms !

Surely this is a joke, you say.

But apparently it isn't a joke.

Seems that some folks realllllly think they can do this -- make bumpers and other car parts from mushrooms!

And not only car parts but other products could include surfboards, building insulation, and more!

Wow.

Silly me. I thought mushrooms were to be eaten. Sigh.

Will this fly?  Will it work?

I guess time will tell if this happens or not. But at least some folks are definitely thinking outside the box.

And others have also been thinking outside the box as some car seats are reportedly made out of soy !

Aren't you glad you come to DIT for your "Daily Interesting Thing"?

A Lamp in the Dark

There is a new DVD out that is a must see for everyone and especially for those who love the Bible.

What is this DVD?

Well, it is entitled "A Lamp in the Dark -- The Untold History of the Bible".

As noted on the back cover of the DVD case: "A Lamp in the Dark is an exciting documentary that shows the intriguing history of the Bible.  Enter into a world of saints and martyrs battling against spies, assassins, and wolves in sheep's clothing.

"… Learn about the sacrifice of men like John Wycliffe, Martin Luther, William Tyndale, Myles Coverdale, and others, who hazarded their lives to communicate the Bible in languages people could understand. …"

This DVD is approximately 3 hours in length.

On Dec. 10, 2010, Gary Stearman, of Prophecy in the News, interviewed Chris Pinto, the Writer and Director of the DVD.

That interview is available on the internet and as you watch it, you will understand why this is a must see DVD.

Oil -- What is its origin?

There is an outstanding online peer reviewed Journal which we have previously mentioned and referenced here on DIT.  It is the Answers Research Journal.

Since we seem to be having big problems these days with the price of oil,  an article in that journal about the origin of oil will surely pique your interest as it did mine.

You have doubtless heard the 2 main views for the origin of oil.

According to the author, the 2 main views are:

View 1 is the "The BIOGENIC process that supposedly converted organic matter into the full suites of oils and gases (but this) is a seriously deficient idea."

View 2 "The ABIOGENIC route has some merits, but is ill-defined in terms of its geochemistry and secondary migration. Its main support comes from those who see problems with biogenic oil, but are not willing to accept any form of metaphysical origin of oil."

The author continues: "Neither of the two models provides a geological explanation as to how oil and gas entered reservoirs whilst they were still at shallow depth, and how the hydrocarbons were subsequently retained."

So, what to do?

Well, this article proposes another model / theory / thesis for the origin of Oil.

You may not have the time to read the entire article though it will be worth your while to do so.

But, if you don't have time to make it to the "Summary and Conclusions" part, let me give you part of the author's bottom line which is:

"We are therefore left with the distinct possibility that oil and gas were made by God in the Creation Week, and that they moved into their present positions during the biblical Flood."

Hmmm. Very interesting.  And this is a concept which I had not heard or thought about before. Hmmmm.

So, with that by way of introduction, to read the entire article, HERE'S THE LINK

Another heads up alert

You have probably heard about the breach of many websites, their email, and other files over the past weekend.

Several big name businesses, banks, and other sites were hit and, among other things, email addresses were stolen.

Why is this important? you ask.

Well, folks are now beginning to get emails asking for their 'information' saying that there is a 'problem' and ….

Well you know the scam.

And you or someone you know may be one the folks who had their email address stolen.

Most businesses NEVER send emails like this sooooooo this is a heads up warning you to be verrrrrry careful about responding to any such emails. Chances are very high that these are bogus and someone is just trying to get your info for nefarious reasons.

Bottom line: Do NOT reply to such emails and do NOT provide info about account numbers, passwords, etc in reply to emails from supposed banks and businesses.

Ancient Civilizations -- what did they know?

Textbooks and our culture (movies, magazines, TV programs, etc etc etc) today teach that ancient man evolved -- and present a 'tree' of evolutionary ancestors including monkeys and apes.

But is this accurate?

Do the known historical accounts of ancient Civilizations confirm this?

Or did some of those Ancient Civilizations have inventions and technology that often parallels and even surpasses what man of the 20th and 21st Centuries can do?

This article presents several insights which throw a lot of cold water on those evolutionary views.  HERE'S THE LINK

Happy Athiests Day !

Folks celebrate many religious holidays throughout the year.

Included in these holidays are Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, Yom Kippur, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and many others.

But, alas, Atheists seem to have been left out.

So, what to do?

Well, as the (fictional) story goes, an atheist went to a Judge and demanded a holiday for Atheists.

The Judge in his wisdom then set aside a special day for Atheists.

What day was proclaimed?

Well, you guessed it. It is April 1st.

So, ‘Happy Atheists Day’ to all of you who do NOT believe in God.

However, if any of you are having second thoughts or would like to understand your holiday better, there is an excellent website with a short video that should interest you.  HERE’S THE LINK

70 Lead Codices have been found

Hmmm.  This will definitely bear watching to see if this find is real or if it is another carefully crafted hoax.

What is it this time?

Well, some lead codices have been found which seem to be about 2,000 years old.

These are reported to contain references to the Messiah, the crucifixion, the resurrection, and more.

Are these real? Or are they a hoax?

Texting for seniors

The new 'in' thing seems to be texting.

In fact it is so 'in' that one even can see folks sitting in the same room or side by side actually texting each other instead of talking.

Wow!

Originally most of the 'texters' and 'textees' were only the young folk.

But lately a lot of the grey headed wonders have gotten into texting.

The codes / abbreviations used by the young texters you probably know.

Why Shouldn’t Christians accept Millions of years?

On Monday Feb 21, 11, we read a chapter in The New Answers Book - Book 2.

In it we discovered when and why the current belief in millions of years (and evolution) developed.

Before the widespread acceptance of ‘millions of years’, most folks (with a few exceptions) believed the Biblical account of when and how the world was created.

And, some minorities (Greeks, etc.) in the more ancient past (by ancient, I mean 3000 or 4000 years ago) proposed various ideas about the origins of the world, some of which are similar to the current evolutionary ideas.

After standing firm in defending the Biblical Teaching of a ‘young earth’ for centuries, alas, many Christian ‘Leaders’ accepted the Evolutionary ideas proposed in the Eighteenth, and Nineteenth Centuries.

They did this because they thought science trumped the Bible.

So, rather than questioning science, they questioned the Bible.

So, what difference does it make if Christians believe in Millions of Years?

Well, this Chapter from The New Answers Book - Book 1 will help you understand why this is soooooo important.  HERE’S THE LINK.

Popcorn at the movies. Why?

Popcorn!   I love popcorn!

And it does not have to be a 'movie thing'.

Popcorn while watching tv, sports, videos, whatever, is also great.

In fact many years ago when Mother and  I were 'nephew and niece' sitting while their parents were out of town for a week or so ---

And not being noted for my cooking abilities, several evenings for supper I popped a big pan of popcorn (this was before the bags and you actually popped popcorn on the stove in a pan) and would put it in a big casserole dish for all to eat.

Merrily placing it on the table I would announce "Popcorn Casserole tonight", because everyone knows that 'casserole dishes' are the 'thing' for meals.

After several evenings of this, the oldest nephew said, "Do we have to have popcorn casserole again?"

Hmmm.

So we had hotdogs.

Anyway.  Popcorn is fun, nutritious, easy to fix, and to some, such as my nephew, is not their idea of 'supper'.

But, I love popcorn.

So, when this article turned up on Yahoo recently about why it is such a fixture at the movies, I just knew you would want to read it,too.

Then, again, perhaps you are like my nephew and not enamored with popcorn.

But regardless, you will surely find this brief article interesting.

Indeed a friend on the other side of the world also saw this article, thought it interesting, and sent the link.

So, without further ado, HERE'S THE LINK

J. R. Church 1938 - 2011

A few minutes ago we got the news.

J.R. Church has gone to heaven.

We knew he had been fighting Cancer for some time but had no idea that he was this close to the end.

According to a phone call from a friend who had just visited his ministry's website, Prophecy in the News, J.R. passed away on March 22, 2011.

He will be missed.

He has been an amazing expositor of the Scriptures through the years with many Biblical insights.

His studies have provided invaluable Information relating to prophecy, current and past world events, and more through his many books, a Monthly Magazine, the Prophecyinthenews.com Website, and weekly TV programs.

Now J.R. is gone.

Gary Stearman, Co-Host of the Ministry, says that the ministry, Prophecy in the News, will continue. And, indeed, that is good news.  But, it will not be quite the same with J.R. gone.

What is Apologetics

A video link was sent to the Worldview Weekend online seminar folks to use as a 'test' to see if everyone's computer would be able to receive the free online seminar transmission Sunday Feb 27, 2011.

Well, guess what.

Our computer worked and received the video so all was fine for Sunday.

But, this 'test' transmission was / is soooooo wonderful that we thought you would like to view it, too.

What is it? you ask.

Well, it is an excellent 19 minute video by Brannon Howse explaining what Apologetics is (and is not) and how it is used to answer such questions as "Is Jesus really God", "Did Jesus really die? or did He just 'swoon'", and more.

You really will be glad you saw this. Soooooo, HERE'S THE LINK

Could ancient people move a 2 million pound rock?

The picture today is not of a 2 million pound rock but of a big staircase made of rocks and part of a Mayan temple in Central America.

But the rocks in that picture do not hold a candle to rocks that were moved in building the Great Pyramid in Egypt or of a temple in Heliopolis.

Heliopolis? Yes.

In the ancient Greek City, Heliopolis, there is a temple for Jupiter which has 3 huge stones which are much much larger than any used in the pyramids or in the Mayan ruins pictured above.

We have been led to believe by those wearing the 'old earth evolutionary glasses' that folks long ago, such as when that temple was built, were not as smart or advanced as we are today.

So how did they build that temple and the pyramids?  And how did they move those  2 million pound stones?

Here is what Ian Taylor of Creation Moments has to say in a one minute audio clip. HERE'S THE LINK

The World's 10 most expensive Dog Breeds

Recently a friend sent an email about the world's most expensive dog.

No, it is not the dog pictured here. That is just a happy poodle and, yes, poodles used to be considered 'expensive' but wow, the price paid for a poodle does not hold a candle to this really expensive dog.

What is this really expensive dog?

Seems that it is a Red Tibetan Mastiff (bet you don't have one of those in your back yard).

And it cost (are you sitting down?) 945,000 British Pounds / aka 10 Million Chinese Yuan (which is a big clue as to who purchased it).

What is this in Dollars? you ask.

Well, according to my trusty calculator, that is about  $1,522,985.66

One and a half Million Dollars !!!!

For a DOG !!!!!?????!!!!!

Arg or ARF !!!!

But this dog, the Red Tibetan Mastiff named "Big Splash" is not the only pricey dog on the planet.

If you would like to see "Big Splash" and several more high priced canines, HERE'S THE LINK

Today is the first day of Spring !!!!

Yay and Hooray.

Spring at last.

As you will recall, some of the groundhogs on groundhog day pooh poohed the gru about this day coming.  Others said, yes, look for it.

Well, at last, at least here, it is here.

Flowers are blooming. Trees are budding. Grass is Growing.

The sky is blue and the birds are back.

Yesterday the moon was in Perigee.  Did you see it?  It was beautiful here.

March basketball madness is in full swing.

No click though link today.  Instead just go outside and enjoy the arrival of Spring!

The Moon is in Perigee Tonight

What???

Well, Perigee is the fancy technical word for what the moon is doing tonight.

When the moon is in Perigee it is closer to earth than when it is in Apogee.

Thanks a lot, Herman.  Could you just speak in layman's terms.

Ok. This means the moon tonight will look like it is 14% bigger, though of course the size does not change.  It is just closer so it looks bigger.

This event happens about every 18 years.

And this is one of those '18 year' events.

So, if your sky is clear and the moon is out where you are tonight, you will want to go out and take a look.

Viewing hint: The moon will appear to  be especially large at moonrise and moonset, though, of course, all night long will be wonderful for viewing this event.

The Darkest Day

In the Bible in Matthew 27:45 we read of the darkness that descended upon the earth at the time of Christ's crucifixion:

"Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour."

What caused this darkness? And what did not cause it?

Was it observed only in Jerusalem?  Or did other places far from Jerusalem also experience it?

Ian Taylor talks about these things in a brief 1 minute audio clip.  HERE'S THE LINK

Today is St. Patrick's Day

And to many folks this means a time of revelry and drunkenness.

In Chicago, as shown in the picture here from Wikipedia, to celebrate this day, they dye the river Green !!!

But what is the real story behind St. Patrick's day?

Was the original intention to get drunk or to die a river green?

Of course not.

To read the history of this day and of St. Patrick, HERE'S THE LINK

Airplanes 2,200 years ago?

You may have seen this picture before.

If so,the thought probably passed through your mind of, as they say in the Superman movies, "… it's a bird, it's a plane, it's …."

Originally this object, which can be seen in the Cairo, Egypt museum, was thought to be a model of a bird.

Then it occurred to someone to look at it more closely and, hmmmm, the design seems to be compatible with an airplane!

But this is a model of something that was made about 2,200 years ago.

So how could this be an airplane?

To hear more about this mysterious object, check out this 1 minute audio clip by Ian Thomas that tells about its discovery and evaluation.  HERE'S THE LINK

The Name of The Messiah Revealed by Rabbi

You may have heard about Rabbi Kaduri.

But, if not, you really need to.

He was very famous and had a very large following.

He died in 2006 at the age of 108.

At the time of his death he left a note which was to be opened one year after his passing.

Well, one year later, it was opened and in it he had revealed the Name of the Messiah!

This 4 minute 49 second video is a 'must watch'.  HERE'S THE LINK

Couch Potato Alert !!!

So you like to sit on the couch and watch football games, basketball games, soccer games, NASCAR, and more.

Well, this is a 'more' that you will definitely want to watch.

So pull up your computer (or hook it to your TV if you are really 'high tech') and watch this.

What is it? you ask.

Well, it is called the "VCA 2010 Race Run" and is a downhill bicycle course.  Yes, I know, 2010 is last year but I just happened upon it recently.

You are going to be amazed.

The Video is 4 minutes 36 seconds long but not all of it is the race.

The Race itself is about 3 minutes and 9 seconds.

The rest of the time, after it is over, the cyclist signs the race board, gets his picture taken, and talks with a spectator so you can stop when the race is over and you won't miss much.

But, WOW, do not miss the downhill run itself.  It is scary and fun -- well, fun if you are sitting at your computer or smart phone and not ON the bike.

OK, ready? Great! Now put on your virtual helmet and HERE'S THE LINK

Great News: The Free OnLine Conference is still Online!

What conference is that? you ask.

Well, as you will recall, several times we have posted info about the WorldView Weekend Conferences.

But, perhaps none have been in your town. So you have been unable to attend in person.

So, to let others attend the conference from their computer, on Sunday Feb. 27, 2011, they did the first of what they hope to be an annual online conference.

We viewed it here at DIT and thought it was great.  And, when it ended, lo and behold, a repeat was / is available.

So, if you missed that conference because of scheduling conflicts or other reasons but would still like to view it, HERE'S THE LINK

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday!

Yes, alas it is time to change the times on all our clocks and watches    a g a i n.

So scurry around and change the clocks --big clocks, little clocks, cuckoo clocks, clocks in cars, clocks in houses, clocks on your arm (aka wristwatches -- ha ha), clocks on the appliances (including your DVRs, unless yours just blinks all the time.  That is also supposed to be funny. )

Change them by putting them ahead one hour!  Alas, that means less sleep tonight.

Oh Well.

Anyway, be sure to change your watches, clocks, and whatever.

Why do we have to do this?  Well to read an article that explains ‘why’, HERE’S THE LINK.
