Yom Kippur begins Today

What is Yom Kippur and why is it important?

Well, It is the Jewish Day of Atonement and is the end of a period of 10 days of Awe (Repentance) that begins with Rosh Hashanah.

Yom Kippur is the Holiest day of the Jewish year !!!

So why should a person care about this period of 10 days culminating with Yom Kippur?

The link to which we will go today answers that question and more.

However, Yom Kippur is not just an important day for Jews.

In fact it is essential for Christians, non-Christians, and Jews to understand what Yom Kippur means and symbolizes.

So with that in mind

Did God Really Create Plants Before the Sun?

Evolution and Recent Creation theories have a significant difference in their time lines concerning when plants and when light and the sun were created.

The details in the article to which we are linking today explain some very important facts that need to be clarified.

You will find this very interesting.

The Ever Evolving Human Evolution Story

"Evolutionary scientists recently announced that fossils from Jebel Irhoud in Morocco, dated at around 300,000 years old, are the oldest Homo sapiens fossils ever discovered.

This claim is based on the shape of a skull and the presence of stone tools at the site.

This represents a potential rewrite to the human evolution story that pushes back the origin of “modern” humans by 100,000 years."

Thus begins a very important but short article by Jake Hebert, Ph.D.

Hmmmm -- Looks like the Evolutionists need to take another look at their timeline.

Interesting.

Read this article for some very important details.

Autumn begins today

Today is the first day of Autumn / Fall

And this means days are getting shorter, nights are getting longer, and, best of all, leaves are beginning to change colors.

And if you live in places where there are deciduous trees, the leaves are changing colors.

Indeed, this is why many folks consider Autumn to be a favorite time of the year -- because of the beautiful fall colors displayed in the leaves.

But, what exactly is the ‘reason’ for these colors.

In other words, “Why do Leaves change color in the fall?”

Well, there is an interesting article on the internet which explains why and also has an experiment that you, or home-schoolers, or other students can do.

HERE’S THE LINK to why do Leaves change colors in the Fall

Rosh Hashanah Begins Today

What is Rosh Hashanah?

It is First Day of the Jewish New Year and is also known as "The Feast of Trumpets"

This Holiday covers two days since the exact time it begins is based on when the first sliver of the New Moon is sighted.

Even though it is shown on the calendar to begin this year at Sundown today and extend through sundown tomorrow, IF the New Moon is not seen today, then the day will be observed tomorrow beginning at sundown and extending through the next day.

So we are leaving this DIT up for 2 days since one is not exactly sure when it will be observed.

In fact, this is the ONLY Jewish Holiday that 'no one knows for sure when it will begin'.   Hmmmm.  Does this ring a bell in your thought process?

Also, leaving this DIT up for two days will give you time to hear the Shofar sounds and read the wonderful summary article explaining about this very important time of Celebration for Jews and Christians.

Christians? Why is a Jewish Holiday important to Christians?

Well, when you read the article you will find out.

So, with that said, HERE'S THE LINK to Rosh Hashannah The Feast of Trumpets.

And to hear the actual Shofar sounds of Rosh Hashanna HERE'S THE LINK.

Fearfully and Wonderfully made

There is a passage in scripture In Psalms 139  from which this quote is taken.

The passage states

13      For You (GOD) formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14      I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
      Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15      My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16      Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
      The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
17      How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18      If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
                             New King James Version

A brief video to which we are linking today expands on this thought.

"The Station" by Robert J. Hastings

Recently while visiting in a Doctor's Office, we saw a very interesting plaque on the wall.

What was it?

Well, it is not a picture but rather a very short but profound article written by Robert J. Hastings, titled "The Station".

Mr Hastings also has a radio program titled "Tiny Town Tales" on BBN (Bible Broadcasting Network).  If you ever have a chance to hear it, be sure to listen.

Tiny Town Tales is a short short program in which he tells stories about a tiny town somewhere in the USA.  If you have ever lived in a tiny town, you will surely relate and enjoy.

But I digress --

Mr. Hastings is now in heaven (though the Tiny Town Tales program lives on since it was recorded)

And the words he wrote on the plaque also live on.

Since the words on the picture of the plaque shown here are likely too small for you to read, we found a website that has posted the words.

I think you will find this most encouraging and self-explanatory

Handel's Messiah - Since by man came death

Yesterday we read the scripture passage and explanation that is depicted in today's music selection

It is the well known anthem from Handel's Messiah -- since by man came death

It was because of the sin (disobedience to God's command) of Adam and Eve that brought death and all the evil into the world

but, good news

there is a solution and a cure to this

and the cure is depicted in this anthem

By man came death

“For since by man came death,

by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die,

even so in Christ shall all be made alive”

                       (I Corinthians 15:21,22).

What does this verse mean?

Today's link will explain a very important and fundamental concept that this verse is describing.

This is definitely a must read.

Manuscript Evidence

You have likely heard or even said yourself that the Bible can't be trusted because there is just not enough Manuscript Evidence to prove that it is accurate and has not been changed during the thousands of years it has been in existence.

But is this true?

Is there no, or almost no, Manuscript Evidence to prove that the Bible is accurate and has not been altered.

The short video today gives a memorable -- let us say unforgettable -- evaluation of the amount of evidence that exists, in this case for the New Testament, when compared with the manuscripts of other famous works such as that of Plato, Caesar, etc.

So with that by way of introduction be sure to watch this 2 minute video.  It is brief but you will never forget it.

Animal Watering Hole

As you recall, several DIT'ers recently went to see the Life Size Noah's Ark in Kentucky.

This reminded me of a hilarious Commercial done by Traveller's insurance.

The plot, whether the insurance company knew it or not, is actually a rather true scenario of what animal life was like BEFORE the sin of Adam and Eve which changed everything.

Before their sin (disobedience to God's command) everything was perfect -- indeed God said repeatedly in Genesis Chapter 1, as He created, that everything was good and then at the end of the 6 days of Creation we read:

"And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."   Genesis 1:31

Before their Sin, there was no death, no cancer, no murder, no accidents, no tornados or hurricanes or floods, or any of a myriad of disasters and problems that exist today and which have existed since their sin.

So with that as a way of background, the link today is to a video that hilariously depicts what life on earth might have been like before the results of Adam and Eve's sin entered the world

Hymn: When the Trumpet of the Lord Shall sound

We are doing the Sunday Hymn today because tomorrow is another special event that deserves its own attention.

This hymn speaks of the coming Rapture of the Church from the earth.

No one knows when that will happen.

It could be today, tomorrow, or hundreds of years from now

but when it does happen, this hymn describes the event.

Will you be ready?  If not, reread yesterday's DIT.

The Urgency of Salvation

When one observes the current fearful happenings in the world -- it causes one to stop and think.

Think about your situation --

Think about world events and what they might produce in your life --

Think about what would happen if you died --

Where would you go?

Today's link warns us of the danger of procrastination in your decision making -- especially when it pertains to life and death.

Hawk takes shelter in Houston

Yesterday we learned about the hazard of floating clumps of Fire Ants in the floodwaters in Texas.

That was pretty scary.

Perhaps a Hawk was worried about the ants -- or the many other hazards from the flooding.

Indeed he was apparently so worried that he took refuge!

Refuge?  What do you mean?

Well, This is amazing.  Check out this brief video of a scared Hawk

Floating clumps of Fire Ants

Everyone has surely been watching the serious flooding problems in Texas.

In addition to the destructive mess produced by the flooding -- there are also hazards produced by alligators, snakes, and Fire Ants.

The picture here shows multiple fire ant bites on a leg 3 days after contact with a colony of fire ants.  Wow.  I bet that hurts.

An interesting article tells about how to deal with the very dangerous clumps of Fire Ants

To visit Noah's Ark in person

For the past two days we have read about Noah's Ark --

We have discovered that , yes, it was possible for Noah and his 3 sons to build it by themselves.

And yesterday we viewed a link that went into a lot of detail about the Ark, the animals, and more.

Likely you would like to visit the Ark and see for yourself what the life sized Noah's Ark looks like -- to walk through it -- to see animals -- and more.

Well, as we mentioned, several DIT-ers are going to do that soon.

And you should also.

It will take a full day to see the Ark.

And while you are in Kentucky, include the Creation Museum in your visit.  It is located a few miles away.  Hint: give yourself 2 days to see the Museum.

So you will likely want to plan a 3 or 4 day vacation trip.

For details about the location, prices, nearby Motels, and more, we found a link that will provide the information you are seeking.

Noah's Ark is in Kentucky !!!

Yesterday the DIT considered whether or not Noah and his 3 sons could have actually built the famous 'Noah's Ark' of History.

And, the conclusion was 'yes they could have' with years to spare.

But, did you know you can see a full size replica of Noah's Ark built to the exact dimensions described in the Bible !

Yes, you can.

And several DIT'ers are going to visit it soon.  Some have even seen it while it was in the process of being built.

But to see it in its completed form should be exciting.

To learn more about this amazing replica of the Ark
