Did Jesus Exist?

Recently there was a flurry of articles and news reports stating that Jesus had a wife.

Apparently the writers of the articles and reports thought that Jesus existed as a real authentic Person although there is no proof (nor will there ever be) that Jesus was married.

This 'controversy' again stirred up the nay-sayers who say that Jesus didn't ever exist, much less have a wife.

So, what is it?

Is there evidence that Jesus existed?   Or is He just a myth.

We found an interesting and informative short article written to answer a critic of Jesus' existence.  HERE'S THE LINK

3D printer for at home use

For a couple of days last week we thought about 3D Copy machines and discovered some of the amazing things they can do.

And, yes, they can do some pretty amazing things.

But, guess what?

What?

These machines as no longer 'pie in the sky' machines only for industries and for use in scientific circles.

They are now making their way into homes !!

Homes????

Yes.

"We are not in Kansas anymore, Toto," and this is not your Gutenberg press.

At the famous Las Vegas annual Consumer Electronics Show, a 3D printer for home use was introduced!

A 3D printer?

For Home use?

Wow.  Tell me more.

Ok, will do.  HERE'S THE LINK

Lab-manufactured windpipe (Trachea)

Yesterday we saw a 3D copy machine in use at the Pixar studios.

And we know that such machines are now being used to make tools, parts for autos, and a myriad of other things.

But, as amazing as that was, did you know that something similar is now being done with human parts?

Yes.

A 3D copy machine has been used to make a human windpipe (Trachea).

After the Trachea was manufactured, stem cells were allowed to grow on the 3D manufactured form.

And, voila, a windpipe / Trachea was made and surgically placed into the patient.

Wow !!!

But, rather than going into the details here, perhaps you will want to read the article and see the actual windpipe.

This is another "we are not in Kansas anymore, Toto…' event.  HERE'S THE LINK

3 D Printer at Pixar Studios

Back in the 'old' days, cartoon movies such as the Disney Cartoons and etc. were tediously drawn by hand.

Later computer animation was introduced.

Now the characters, such as those in the Pixar movies (Toy Story, etc) are made in 3D printers !

Wow.

How does this work?

Well, this 3 minute 2 second video will show you.  HERE'S THE LINK

Answers Magazine

By the way, in case you are wondering -- that article about Bent Rock Layers that was the subject of yesterday's DIT, came from an awesome magazine.

What is this awesome magazine? you ask.

Well it is "ANSWERS" and is published 4 times a year by Answers In Genesis.

From time to time AIG posts articles from that magazine on their website.

And when they do, we usually hop upon it and post it on DIT so you can read the powerful information these articles provide.

But, you know what?

What?

You really need to subscribe to this magazine because

there is a lot more in each issue that just never gets posted but which you will find very informative and which will help you understand things in a way you wish you had been taught when you were in school.

The article you read yesterday was from the most recent issue which covered the topic "Ten Best Evidences".

It just arrived in mailboxes about a week or so ago.

You realllllly need to consider subscribing to this magazine. To find out how, HERE'S THE LINK

Bent Rock Layers

One of my favorite things to observe while traveling is rock layers.

They are everywhere when you start to look for them.

Perhaps the best and most frequent place to see rock layers is in the road cuts on highways.

Layer upon layer of rocks can be seen and the amazing thing is that they are usually very flat and straight layers with no evidence of erosion between the layers.

No erosion -- that is very odd -- especially since we are told in school that each layer took thousands or millions of years to be deposited.

Hmmm.  How is it that in my back yard, I see erosion all the time in the rocks and dirt and, even though I am 'old', I am not THAT old, but rock layers said to be millions of years old show almost no erosion?

Also, and even more stunning is the fact that the rock layers in the road cuts and elsewhere, including those in the Grand Canyon (pictured here) are often folded or bent but not broken.

Hmmm.  Odd again since I have observed, and so have you, that when a rock is bent or folded it breaks.

So why is it that the rock layers that are everywhere around the world are usually without any evidence of erosion and are folded without breaking.

Yesterday you met Dr. Andrew Snelling, PhD in Geology, who explained to us about Carbon 14.

Today, let's read a very informative but brief article, written by him, that explains how this folding without breaking and layers without erosion happens.   HERE'S THE LINK

Carbon-14 Dating

A very interesting and informative 4 minute video answers the question that many folks ask.

What is that question?

It is:  "Doesn't Carbon-14 Dating Disprove the Bible?"

You may have asked this yourself or you may have been asked this by others.

Dr. Andrew Snelling (PhD), a Geologist from Australia (hence the accent), answers this question in a way that anyone can understand.

If you have ever wondered about this question, or even if you haven't, this is a must watch video.

Inside Google

Everyone knows about Google -- unless they have been in a Rip Van Winkle sleep for the past decade or so.

Indeed, the very word "Google" has become a verb and a new entrant into Dictionaries.

This is obviously a word you won't find in the old Webster's Dictionaries we mentioned in the DIT of Oct. 14, 2012.

But, even though everyone now knows about Google, and have added that word as a verb to their vocabularies, few have seen inside the buildings (yes, buildings, plural) where Google houses its computer power.

Guess what -- now we can.

Really?  How?

Well, a very interesting article, replete with pictures, gives insight into this amazing service.  HERE'S THE LINK

Who am I ?

Almost 2000 years ago, The Lord God Jesus Christ left His throne in heaven and came to earth where He died and after 3 days and nights rose again to eternal life.

Why?

He did it to pay the required death penalty for the sins of sinners (i.e. all humans).

Therefore,

Anyone who trusts in Him (Jesus) and His substitutionary atoning sacrifice will be saved from having to personally pay his or her own personal sin penalty of death.

"For God (the Father) so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son (Jesus / Yeshua) -- that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but  have everlasting life."

That includes you and me

IF

we confess our sins to Him, ask for forgiveness, will let Him be our Lord, and accept His free gift of salvation.

But

Why would Jesus die for me?

That is what this 3 minute 43 seconds A cappella Hymn, "Who Am I?" is asking.  HERE'S THE LINK

A Mini Concert

Years ago several DIT-readers that we know were 'into' Minis.

Minis?  Yes, those teeny tiny cars that many folks think are sooooooo cute.

These intrepid DIT-ers had Minis and the stories they tell about what they did with them and where they ended up (such as on the stage of the auditorium while they were in college) are amazing.

By the way it was the drivers of the Minis that were in college, not the Minis, lest you be deceived about the talent of these little cars.

But, these little cars do seem to have a very special talent.  -- which is the reason for the DIT today.

What is this talent? you ask.

Well, besides being 'cute' and gas-sippingly fuel efficient (or so they say), they have another talent.

Yes. It seems they have a musical talent that is a hoot -- or maybe that should be a honk.

Har de har har.

Anyway, check out this 1 minute 15 second video.  It is a honk / hoot.  HERE'S THE LINK

Halloween

It is fast approaching that time of the year.

Stores are filled with pumpkins, orange and black decorations, black cats, costumes of witches and goblins and other scary Halloween-ish things.

But, before you rush out to buy the latest goulish items or begin decorating your yard and or house, you might want to ask yourselves --

Should Christians celebrate halloween?

What is its origins?

What is its purpose?

Is it just a harmless fun time for kids to go 'trick and treating'?

How about Jack-O-Lanterns? Are these harmless, cute, and fun?

Or is there a sinister side to Halloween, the Jack-O-Lanterns, the scary outfits and masks that the children wear, and etc.

Check out this article for some answers-- HERE'S THE LINK

A book to NOT read

From time to time, as you know, we recommend books, videos, movies, etc. that we  think you will find helpful, interesting, informative.

And, from time to time we mention books, videos, movies, etc. that we do not recommend.

Today is one of those times when we want to give a heads up about a book that has become popular again and is being offered for sale by several groups that are usually 'right on' in their resources.

But this time -- well, not so fast -- not so good.

So What is this book? you ask.

Well, wayyyyyyy back in the late 1800s and early 1900s, there was a book that was widely read by many Christians.  It was even written by a Christian.

It is titled "Earth's Earliest Ages" by George H. Pember.

The trouble is  -- that at the time he (George H. Pember) was writing this book, the world view of many Christians (including Pember) was that of the Gap Theory.

Indeed, the world view of those now resurrecting and selling the book is also that of the GapTheory.

Why does this matter?

Bottom Line -- Because this theory is not compatible with the Literal teaching of the Bible.

Why?

Well, we found two (of many) articles that will give you the details as to why. They also address other similar theories that are incorrect and about which you need to be informed.

For article one, HERE'S THE LINK

And for article two, HERE'S THE LINK
