It all adds up

What all adds up? you ask.

Well, as you know the 'current theory' of earth origins is that everything is millions and billions of years old.

This, of course, is not the history recorded in the Bible.

So which concept of origins is correct?

Man's ideas?

or God's recorded (in the Bible) history?

Today's link will explain and will show how "it all adds up"

Romans 10:9-10

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,

and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,

thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;

and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"

                                Romans 10:9-10 KJV

or if you want to change the 161l English words of the KJV to today's words -- it reads

That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus,

and believe in your heart that God hasraised Him from the dead,

you will be saved.

For with the heart man believes unto righteousness;

and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

                                    Romans 10: 9-10

Either way (old English or currently familiar words) this is essential to deciding where you will spend eternity -- in heaven vs. in hell.

ARRL Field Day

It's that time of the year when Hams (Amateur Radio Operators) get on the air.

What?

Yes, every year during the 3rd Weekend (Sat and Sunday) in June, the big event occurs.

This year it is June 23-24.

So What is Field day? and why should I care?

You are probably asking those questions and more if you are not  a Ham.

Today's link will explain --

And even though you are probably not a Ham, if you check out a Field Day site near you and watch the radio operations in person --

in fact, if you go to a Field day near you, you can get on the air yourself because most locations will have a GOTA (Get on the Air Station).

Try it out.  You might just get hooked on this fun hobby.

So with that by way of introduction

Today is the first day of Summer

Ah, summer finally begins !

The time for vacations and fun is here at last.

Today, besides being the first day of summer,

it is also the longest day of the year.

Well, no, the day is not ‘longer’ because of more hours and minutes.  It is still a 24 hour day.

But, this is the day of the year with the longest time of daylight.

After today, and until the winter solstice in December, the time of daylight will get shorter and shorter and shorter and ...

Then at the Winter Solstice, the shortest daylight day of the year, the days begin to get longer again until we reach next year’s “first day of summer”.

And on and on the cycle goes day after day, year after year.

Hmmm. Sounds like some kind of ‘design’ here.

Anyway, today, June 21, is the Summer Solstice, the First day of summer, and the day of the year with most daylight, hence the longest day of the year.

Thought you would want to know.

No Click through today.  Just go out and enjoy the L O N G day !

How old is the Earth

Yes, Yes, you constantly hear really old dates for the formation of the earth.

And have you noticed that every decade or so the age of the earth gets millions or billions of years older.

Either there is something wrong with the dating or we are all personally aging faster and faster.

So how old IS the earth?

And what should we believe?

The link today has some very interesting things to consider.  Check it out.

Today is Father's Day

Another special day has rolled around.

In May, we celebrated Mother's Day and folks wore roses (red or white) to celebrate that day and their mothers.

And, of course, the mothers also got gifts -- lots of gifts such as chocolate, jewelry, etc.

Also, of course, most families took their mothers out to eat for the big day.

But for Father's day -- hmmmm. No roses.   What to do?

So folks buy ties, tools, and other such things for their fathers.

And instead of taking the fathers out to eat, they hand him a platter of raw  hamburgers, hotdogs, and steaks and send him outside in the heat to cook them on the grill.

There might be something wrong with this picture.   : )

Anyway, today IS Father's day.

And those of you who are out of town and far far away from your father and unable to be present for the goodies he will be grilling -- well, you should at least call him on the phone.

Or you could send him a text message.

Or an email.

Or whatever.

But do get in touch with your dad today and let him know how much you appreciate him.

For those who no longer have dads -- spend sometime today reflecting on your dad and appreciating what he did for you.

Speaking of reflection and appreciation, we have posted this before but it is worth repeating.

What is it? you ask.

Well, it is an article that was in the Register Guard Newspaper of Eugene, Oregon in 2009 -- an article written by a Sports Writer for that paper.  It was a tribute and a Happy Father's Day reflection about his dad.

It was great in 2009 and it is definitely worth repeating today

Comparisons are made to Tacitus, Plato, Herodotus, Caesar, and the New Testament.

The results are amazing.

Working by Faith

There is a passage in the New Testament that has probably made you scratch your head.

What is it?

Well, in Matthew 20 there is an account about a man hiring workers.

Some he hired first thing in the day, others later, and still others just before the work day ended.

But, when it came time to pay the workers, everyone got the same pay!

Obviously this caused those who worked all day much dismay.

But, what is the reason for this seeming discrepancy in pay?

The short article to which we are linking correctly begins with the comment: "This parable has long caused perplexity …" which is perhaps the understatement of the year (or century or whatever).

But this article also explains the reason for the same pay for all the workers.

I think you will find this most interesting.

HERE'S THE LINK to why they got the same pay

Radiometric Dating and the Age of the Earth

“Doesn’t radiometric dating prove that the earth is millions of years old?” "Not in the least. Actually most dating techniques point to a very young earth, and only a few radiometric-dating methods suggest an old earth."

The article to which we are linking begins with those sentences.

For a fuller explanation

How to fix the scroll wheel on your Logitech mouse

Ok  Ok

I guess you are still wondering how to fix the scroll wheel on your Logitech mouse when it no longer scrolls.

So Today's DIT will tell you what I did --

Figuring it was probably broken and banging on it couldn't make it worse because it was likely going to have to be replaced anyway --

First I turned it upside down down and began to strongly roll the scroll wheel on a clean piece of paper --- and I noticed some dust and dirt began to appear on the wheel and the paper.

Hmmmmmm   I wondered !!!

Could this be due to dust in the mechanism??

So with that in mind and still with the mouse upside down --

I banged it on the desk a bunch of times --

and a little teeny tiny dust bunny fell out !!!   Aha !!!

Repeating this many more times -- I ended up with 5 or 6 little dust bunnies falling out !!

Then I turned the mouse back to its normal position

and guess what --

The Scroll Wheel WORKS again.

Joy and Happiness

"And now you know the rest of the story"

I was going to post a "how to make the scroll wheel on your Logitech mouse work when it stopped scrolling"

because mine had quit scrolling ---

and I fixed it -- it is now good as new!

And, no, it was not fixed with a battery change or a reset of the computer or any other such process --

It was something amazingly simple --

but I decided that might not appeal to you because your mouse is probably working properly --

So instead

how about we listen to some awesome piano music !

Rock Layers -- evidence of millions of years?

All over the world Rock layers are visible --

Sometimes they are seen in highway road cuts --

or on cliffs at the the edges of the oceans, rivers, and lakes --

and in a multitude of other locations.

We are constantly told that these rock layers formed over millions and millions of years.

But is that correct?

Is it possible there is another origin?

How about a Global flood?

Today's link has some very interesting information as to the origin of rock layers.

Today is the First day of June

Today is the First day of June --

what is so great about that?  you ask.

Well probably not much

(unless it is your birthday or some other highly important day on your calendar)

but it reminds me of a poem or a reminder or memory phrase --

that is very helpful in remembering how many days are in each month.

Perhaps we should have posted this on September 1

But that is then and this is now.

So what is this poem / reminder / memory phrase? you ask

Today's link will explain.
