Don't try this at home -- or anywhere

This is the understatement of all time.

Why oh Why would folks do this?

Do what?

Well, when you click on the link you will find out.

What is it? You ask.

Well, it is 29 photos of people doing reallllllllly stooooopid things.

It is titled "29 photos that show the true meaning of Playing with Death.  These people are Mad"

And, just between you, me, and the gatepost -- that is an accurate description.

And by the way -- death is serious and forever.  So before you try any of these things be sure your eternal destiny is 'in order'

If you have any doubts about where you will go when you die, you might want to check out this link to What Happens when you die.

So with that by way of explanation, if you dare to take a gander

How did we get all this Coal?

This is the title of a very interesting article that probably answers one of the questions about which you have wondered.

As discussed on the AIG website,

"Some people have wondered how the vegetation during Noah’s day could produce so much coal, since today’s vegetation would produce only 3% of known coal reserves.

"To find the answer, we must reexamine the assumptions behind that estimate.

"First, it is often assumed that around 10 feet of peat is necessary to produce 1 foot of coal. But if you consider the weight of peat and coal, or if you consider the energy content, then 10 feet of vegetation probably produced 5–10 feet of coal.

"Second, it is mistakenly assumed that the world of Noah’s day was much like today. That is not the case. It turns out that Noah’s world was very lush, producing nearly six times more vegetation than we see today."

It is very likely that "lush vegetation might have covered up to 75% of the pre-Flood world. "

For more details, you will want to read a brief excellent eye-opening article written by Dr. Andrew Snelling (PhD in Geology).

Don't panic -- even though the article is written by a Geologist, you WILL be able to understand it.

So with that by way of introduction

How are Christians like space Aliens?

Dan Lietha is an artist at AIG.  His cartoon pictures are all great.

We thought you would find this one interesting.

And in case you were wondering what those scriptures were that were mentioned in the lower right corner of the picture, here they are:

Hebrews 11: 13-16  "13These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Matthew 28: 16- 20  "16Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

And the message that can save the people of earth is:

"John 3:14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

North America is divided into two parts by a water line

What?

Yes, it is true.

A friend of DIT found this article and sent it to us.

Seems that "North America is divided into two parts by a single water line" by which you can go from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean or visa versa by water.

Now, it is, obviously not as awesome or as navigable as the Panama Canal

and you would have to be a small fish to do the traveling.

But, it does exist.

Check it out

The most dangerous intersection in the world

Yesterday we saw a video of a flying car.

Perhaps that is what is needed to avoid the mayhem that we will see today.

What mayhem? you ask

Well, what you are going to view is claimed to be the "most dangerous intersection in the world"

It makes round-abouts  (which I hate)  look like child's play.

So as you check out this video, you will likely agree that this IS the most dangerous intersection in the world and would opt for the flying car instead, if that were possible.

So without further ado

Flying Car

Yes, yes, folks have invented flying cars before.

And we have posted some from time to time here as a DIT.

The flying car we will see today is truly amazing and much more feasible than most.

It is probably less expensive also.

But, the real purpose of this flying car is not to just joyride --

It was designed and developed by Steve Saint (yes THAT Steve Saint -- the son of the missionary father killed in Ecuador -- you may have seen the movie that was made about the murders).

We mention that because Steve originally conceived the idea to develop a flying car in order to help Missionaries who need emergency evacuations for illness, accidents, etc --

but are unable to get out because of being in locations that are so far from civilization that without air evacuations, they would die.

This vehicle was designed to help those folks.

This video gives more details and lets you see it in action.

Alas there is a brief commercial and a short lag till the video begins but be patient, it will start and you will be amazed!

So with that said

Jesus' wife ???

Jesus' wife ???

How can that be?

Well, it can't --

but around Easter each year, various 'news things' appear with the purpose of trying to debunk Christ's birth, life, death, and resurrection.

Sometimes the 'things' include reports saying Jesus did not die on the cross -- but lived and had a wife and children.

2014 was no exception to the attempts to debunk.

How so?

Well, supposedly there was the discovery of the "Jesus' Wife Papyrus …"

The scroll fragment pictured here is not that document but is likely similar to the fragment that was reported.

The article to which we are linking today explains about the Papyrus and provides further information about Jesus' death and resurrection.

Hymn: When The Trumpet of the Lord Shall Sound

This is truly a classic hymn that used to sung often in Churches.

Today it has been replaced by "7 / 11 songs".

But, for those of you to whom this is an old favorite, you will love singing along with the Hymn Club Choir.

And those of you who are not familiar with this Hymn, prepare to enjoy and worship as you also sing or hum along.

Church Ceilings

Recently a friend found an amazing link and sent it to us.

What is it?

Well, it is, as the title of the DIT says -- views of Church Ceilings.

And, by the way, this Church interior picture was taken by a friend of DIT on a recent trip.  He looked up and saw a beautiful ceiling. We thought it would be a great intro picture for today's DIT.

Probably your Church ceiling doesn't look like the one he saw or the ones you will be viewing

but there are many that are astoundingly beautiful.

The link today will take you to some of them.

20 Best Dog Tricks

We are not talking  Sit, Shake hands, roll over --

when we say these are 20 of the best dog tricks.

This dog is really talented.

Much more talented than the poodle pictured here.

That poodle can do the sit, shake hands, flip food from her nose, and wear glasses (with help)  --

But, as for the tricks you will see in today's DIT video,

Noooooo way.

A friend sent us a very interesting story in an email.

Whether or not it is true, we can't really say, but it seems likely that it is.

So, what is this story? you ask.

Well, it tells of a man who applied for the job as a Morse Code operator and….

well, rather than spill the beans, you should just read it for yourself.

Sunday Hymn -- When we walk with the Lord

It is Sunday and time for our Hymn.

Today it is a well known Hymn played on a piano -- perhaps as you used to hear it years and years ago before the drums and big bands hit the Church scene.

Yes, the words are included so you can sing along.

Supermoon

Ok Guys and Gals --- Tonight is the night !!

The night?  For What ?

Tonight is one of those nights when you can see a Supermoon !!!

Actually, this year there will be three (count them 1,2, 3) supermoons.

They will occur on July 12 (tonight), August 10, and September 9.

So what is a supermoon?

Well, according to a quote on the earthsky.org website, a Supermoon is " a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit."

Of course, that explanation is kinda wordy and esoteric.

So -- for a more 'readable' article and explanation from NASA (your tax dollars at work) which includes a video explanation, check out this link about the SUPERMOON

But, if you want to skip the article (who would want to do that?) and only view the  video explanation HERE'S THE VIDEO LINK to SUPERMOON

But whatever you decide to do -- be sure to go outside and check out the Supermoon tonight.

And -- HINT -- the best time to see it is at sunset tonight when it will appear to be even larger because, as the NASA website explains:

"The illusion occurs when the Moon is near the horizon.  For reasons not fully understood by astronomers or psychologists, low-hanging Moons look unnaturally large when they beam through trees, buildings and other foreground objects. When the Moon illusion amplifies a perigee Moon, the swollen orb rising in the east at sunset can seem super indeed."

So go outside and check out tonight's Supermoon!!!!! You will be glad you did
