"Genome Brings Ancient Girl to Life"

That is the title of an article posted recently on the "Wired Science" Website.

So, what is going on?  What does this mean?

Well, a tiny bone fragment (and I do mean tiny) has been found in Siberia and is reported to have come from a girl 50,000 (more or less) years ago.

The genetic material in this fragment was then sequenced to reveal information about this individual.

It seems that, according to the results of the genome sequencing, she was a she and had "brown eyes, brown hair, and brown skin."

All of this is very interesting, of course, and we will link you to the article so you can see a replica of the tiny fragment from which this information was derived.

But, even though the information from the genomic sequencing is probably correct, the BIG question has to do with the AGE of the bone fragment.

The evolutionary world view researchers say the bone fragment is estimated to be from 30,000 to 82,000 years old.  That is quite a range of years.

But, the problem is, how can they know this and how can DNA material remain viable enough for sequencing after that long of a period of time even if you take the lower limit of 30,000 years.

However, if the DNA was in a fossil in line with the Biblical chronology of a young earth, such as a post-Noah-flood fossil, then the DNA material might still be viable enough for these findings to be obtained.

Hmmm.

Anyway to read the article from the old earth evolutionary viewpoint, and to see the actual size of the fossil in question  HERE'S THE LINK

Then to read even more detailed article with a picture of the excavation site, also with the old earth evolutionary viewpoint, HERE'S THE LINK

By the way, off topic but speaking of 'old things' -- several readers of DIT have recently observed birthdays, one of which is even today.  So, Happy Birthday to all of you and you know who you are.    : )
