Today is Pentecost Sunday

What is Pentecost Sunday?

It is a special Jewish and now also Christian holiday that occurs 50 days (penta = 50) after Passover.

How and why are these two holidays related?

The Old Testament tells about Passover, observed annually, which commemorates the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt after about 400 years of living in Egypt, most of that time in slavery. To read about this, HERE'S THE LINK

In the New Testament we learn that it was also on Passover that The Lord God Jesus Christ was crucified, as fulfilment of the picture of the sacrificial lamb of Passover and the other Jewish days and holidays, to pay the sin death penalty for mankind.

50 Days after the Exodus described in the Old Testament and the Death of Jesus described in the New Testament Pentecost ocurs.

In The Old Testament on Pentecost, The 10 Commandments were given by God on Mount Sinai to Moses and the Israelites / Jews.

But something very special and related to Christians also occurred on the Pentecost that happened 50 days after the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Because of that special happening, this day is no longer celebrated only because of the giving of the 10 Commandments.

It is now also celebrated because that day is now considered to be the day that the birth of the Christian Church occurred.

The amazing event on that particular and special Pentecost is described in Chapter 2 of the New Testament Book of Acts.
