Today is Good Friday

Today the world historically considers this to be the day that Christ died.

Some argue that Friday was not the day -- rather that He died on a Wednesday.

This Link proposes that Christ died on a Wednesday

This is a debate that has gone on for centuries and continues to this day.

We post it now just so you will know that the concept is "out there".

But whether Christ died on a Wednesday, or a Thursday, or a Friday is not the main point.

The main thing is that Christ Died and the reason for His death was to provide us a way of salvation and escape from eternity in Hell which would be the price we will have to pay for our sins if they remain unforgiven and not paid for.

But Christ's sinless life and blood sacrifice by his death on the cross provides the substitutionary atonement (payment) for individuals from their sins (if they accept this gift of Christ's death for theirs).

The night of the Passover Exodus in which the Jews put the blood of a lamb on the doorposts of their houses -- and thus avoided the death of the firstborn -- was a picture of the future death / blood sacrifice of The Lord God Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, to pay the penalty for the sins of mankind.

Anyone who believes in and accepts Jesus' gift of His life for theirs (yours, mine) will live eternally with Him in heaven and will escape the penalty of eternal punishment for their sins in hell.

That is what Good Friday (or Wednesday or Thursday) really means.

The question for you then is:

Have you accepted Jesus' gift of His life/death for yours?

For God so loved the world
That He gave His only beloved son
(Jesus, the Lamb of God)
That whosoever believes in Him
Shall not perish
but have everlasting life.
