Sand on the floor?
Really?
Yes. There are a few Synagogues with sand on the floor.
The one pictured here is in St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
Recently some friends went to this synagogue and shared the picture shown here with me.
So, wanting to know more, I went to Wikipedia and found a very short article telling about this most unusual synagogue and WHY the sand is on the floor.
