The ALMA radio telescope

Move over Hubble --- there is a new kid on the block!

What?

Yes, it seems that there is a new radio telescope (ok, it is not exactly in the same category as the Hubble and it is not located in space but here on earth) -- but it is a telescope, albeit a radio telescope and is providing some amazing views of the universe and galaxies.

What is it?

Well, it is called the ALMA radio telescope and is located in Chile atop an Andes mountain at 16,000+ feet.

To see the first picture from this telescope and to see the telescope itself, which is actually an array of many giant dish radio antennas,  HERE'S THE LINK.

And for a few more details, HERE'S A LINK and HERE'S ANOTHER.
