The Evolution Denier

This week we have, among other things, looked at the theory of evolution

and it is only a theory.

It has not and can not be proven.

Of course, folks who make claims that evolution can not be proven are often referred to as deniers.

Today we are linking to one of Dan Lietha's cartoons which illustrates the the consequences of denying.

Has Evolution been proven?

Yesterday we considered that Evolution is a Religion.

Why?

Basically because it can't be proven but must be taken on faith.

Today we are linking to a very short video that provides additional information concerning whether or not evolution has been or can be proven.

The Himalayas from 20,000 feet

As indicated on the webpage with these awesome images --

"The aerial cinema experts at Teton Gravity Research release the first ultra HD footage of the Himalayas shot from above 20,000 ft. with the GSS C520 system, the most advanced gyro-stabilized camera system in the world.

"Filmed from a helicopter with a crew flying from Kathmandu at 4,600 ft. up to 24,000 ft. on supplemental oxygen, these are some of the most stable, crisp, clear aerial shots of these mountains ever released, which include Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse.

"Sound design and mix by Jeff Cormack at Play+Record

And now with that by way of introduction, sit back and enjoy this 2 minute 30 second video of the Himalayas.

ARRL Field Day

Hams  (Amateur Radio operators) all across America and around the world are 'on the air' today (Saturday)  and tomorrow (Sunday).

Why?  Well, because

As described on the American Amateur Radio Relay League Website:

"Field Day is ham radio's open house.

"Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation.

"It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event.

"Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio."

If you are a Ham, are interested in becoming a ham, or are just curious, find a site and visit.

Many sites will have a GOTA (Get on the Air) station which means that if you are not a licensed ham you will still be able to talk on the radio and make contacts.

It is a fun fun fun time.

You will be amazed.

For more information about "what is field day" HERE'S A LINK

And To locate a site near you where you can participate, GOTA, or just watch and  fellowship --

Summer begins Today

Today, besides being the first day of summer, is also the longest day of the year.

Well, no, the day is not ‘longer’ because of more hours and minutes.  It is still a 24 hour day.

But, this is the day of the year with the longest time of daylight.

After today, until the winter solstice in December, the time of daylight will get shorter and shorter and shorter and ...

Then at the Winter Solstice, the shortest daylight day of the year, the days begin to get longer again until we reach next year’s “first day of summer”.

And on and on the cycle goes day after day, year after year.

Hmmm. Sounds like some kind of ‘design’ here.

Anyway, today, June 21, is the Summer Solstice, the First day of summer, and the day of the year with most daylight, hence the longest day of the year.

Just thought you would want to know.

So get outside and enjoy the day with the most sunlight until this time next year.

Noah's Ark is in Kentucky

Yesterday we read an article by a PhD Geologist

in which we got the impression that the Original Noah's Ark will likely not be found and why.

But, there is an Ark that we can all now see without risking our lives by climbing high mountains in the snow and ice in a far far away land.

It's located in Kentucky

and is a real life sized ark based on the dimensions and descriptions given in the Bible.

If you want to see Noah's Ark, then this should definitely be on your bucket list of things to do.

For information about this ark, its location, and more

Timely Scripture

Last Month we celebrated Mother's Day

And tomorrow we will celebrate Father's Day

So our scripture today is most timely and appropriate.

Honor thy father and thy mother:

that thy days may be long upon the land

which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

The Untold story behind DNA similarity

"Not so fast, Henry Higgins, not so fast"

To what am I referring you ask?

Well it seems that we have been repeatedly been told that the DNA of Humans and Chimps is very similar.

Thus, we are told, this 'proves' that evolution occurred.

But the article to which we are linking today is a "Not so fast, Henry Higgins, not so fast" article

in that it provides a lot of interesting and important information that has been left out of the story.

Life in the Blood

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood:

and I have given it to you upon the altar

to make an atonement for your souls:

for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul”

                                 Leviticus 17: 11 KJV

This scripture, though brief, contains a very profound concept.

Today is Flag Day

Pictured here is the famous Painting depicting the story of Betsy Ross presenting the first American flag to General George Washington by Edward Percy Moran.

There are many versions of this event -- some of which agree and others that say that she did not make the first flag.

Therefore, seemingly it is not a 'cast in stone' conclusion that she made the first flag.

But whether she did or not --

The Brief article to which we are linking today tells one version of how it came to be that Betsy Ross made the first American Flag.

The History of Envelopes

Everyone today is very familiar with envelopes and use them constantly.

Indeed sometimes the color of the envelope is significant as are the red ones pictured here.

Why Red? you ask.

Well, In many countries, especially in the East -- Red envelopes are used to present gifts of money.

These red envelopes were New Year's envelopes being sold in Taipei, Taiwan, at the market and were intended for that use.

But thousands of years ago envelopes were totally different from what we have and use today.

The article to which we are linking today gives a brief history

but it has one error -- not that it is an end of the world error -- but when you notice it you will likely wonder.

What is the error?

Well the sentence "Fast forward a couple of HUNDRED years to the 1800s …
should actually read
"Fast forward a couple THOUSAND years to the 1800's …

Other than that

I think you will find this to be a very interesting article.

Supercell Storms

The picture of the clouds posted here was taken by a friend of DIT.

As you can see, the weather at that time was beautiful --

But, alas

It is that time of the year when many parts of the USA experience storms

including severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

The video to which we are linking today is fascinating

in that it is a collection of short time-lapse videos of various amazing weather events.

The Photographer is Chad Cowan who as a weather chaser travelled over 100,00 miles photographing these storms.

These are amazing.

What is this?

The picture posted here was taken by Jacob Abhishek in April of 2009 and was posted on Wikipedia on its' Wiki site.

What is it? you ask.

Well, it is a very well known and well liked food item.

We saw some of these when they looked just like this while on a trip to South and Central America (big hint as to the identity of this mystery food).

But when we eat this 'thing' it looks very different.

So with those thoughts by way of a hint,

Make your best guess and then

to find out what it is

Music without Sacred Music would be incomplete

You have noticed that almost every Sunday the DIT is a hymn or some form of  Worship Music --

and often we feature music by Johann Sebastian Bach.

J.S. Bach was born in 1685 and composed hundreds of pieces of music, much, if not most, of which was of Religious nature.

Indeed he even said:

"The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.

If heed is not paid to this, it is not true music but a diabolical bawling and twanging."

Worship Music: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring

Today's worship music is a well known favorite which is (or was) often sung by the Church Choir (back in the days when Churches still had serious Choirs -- but I digress).

So for those of you who sang in or listened to Choirs with awesome worship music --

You will appreciate "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by J. S. Bach

Isaiah 53:6

All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the Lord (God the Father)

has laid on Him (Jesus Christ)

the iniquity (sins) of us all.

Would Jesus Christ be an Evolutionist

Evolution is now the new paradigm.

It is taught in schools and colleges.

It is present in movies, books, articles in magazines and papers, in Scientific Journals, and more.

Is the theory of evolution true?

Or is it just another concept devised by man to try to explain the existence of all things.

So

The question often asked now is

Would Jesus Christ be an Evolutionist.

The Article to which we are linking today answers that question.

HERE'S THE LINK to Would Jesus Christ be an Evolutionist
