Today is Resurrection Sunday (Easter)

Almost 2000 years ago, The Lord God Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the required death penalty for my (and everyone’s) sins.

Three days and nights passed while he was in the grave.

But then, HE  AROSE  from the dead !!!

He was Resurrected to new life!!!

And because He arose, we, too, can live with Him forever
        IF
we confess and turn from our sins
        and
accept the free gift of His substitute death as payment for our sins.

Jesus explained this amazing transaction to Nicodemus in these words:

                   John 3:14-18...
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned:
but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ...

What should be our response to this?

Well, Robert Shaw, the Chamber Singers, and the Atlanta Symphony orchestra express my response in this 3 minutes 28 seconds video.

A woman shall compass a man.”
              Jeremiah 31:22

Today is Palm Sunday

This picture of Christ entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday was posted on Wikipedia by the Brooklyn Museum and is in the Public Domain in its country of origin and in the USA.

Today begins the Week in which the final events in the earthly life of Jesus Christ occurred.

These events began with Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday,

followed a few days later with His death on the cross

and 3 days after that by His resurrection back to life on what is now celebrated as Resurrection Sunday (Easter).

His Death paid the death penalty for everyone (because everyone is a sinner -- and the penalty for sin is death).

His resurrection proved that Jesus is indeed God and His substitution death for sinners was valid.

Every person who accepts the Lord God Jesus' Christ's gift of salvation through His substitutionary death will escape eternity in hell and will spend eternity living in heaven.

The link today is the famous telling of an illustrative story told by Paul Harvey -- which in a simple but profound way illustrates what Jesus' death provides for those who accept His gift of freedom from the  death that they would otherwise experience.

Skellig Michael - a World Heritage Site

A friend of DIT suggested we check out this location for a DIT

so we did.

And interestingly it was the location of a very early Christian Monastery during the era of the now famous St. Patrick.

It is a twin peaked craig located off the west coast of Ireland and became really famous after being used as one of the settings in the Star Wars Films.

God's Ways are The Best

"And the word of the Lord came unto [Elijah],

saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon,
and dwell there:

behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee"

            I Kings 17:8-9   kjv

This somewhat strange command is explained in the brief devotional thought to which we are linking today.

Though it was spoken to Elijah, the concept applies to all of us today --

which is -- God's ways ARE Best and we should heed them.
