Main Street, USA in the 1950s

Today let's take a trip down memory lane.

For some DITers, this will really be a trip down memory lane.

For the rest, this will be an eye opener for sure.

Doubtless, most DIT'ers see the hustle and bustle of big cities and busy life in the 21st Century and think or assume everything has always been as we see it now.

But back in the 1950s it didn't look anything like it does today --

Not by a long shot.

So today let's take a brief glimpse of life as it was in the 1950s --

in what was, at that time, considered "big cities'.

Wow.  what a difference time makes.

This is an important question and the answer is not what you would immediately think.

The Ball drops in Times Square of New York.

Fireworks light up the sky in many cities and communities around the world.

Sunday Hymn: Out of the Ivory Palaces

Yesterday we read a brief devotional thought
which explained
that the Lord God Jesus Christ
left the 'Ivory Palaces' of heaven
to come to earth as a baby

for the purpose of providing the free gift of salvation
to all who would accept His sacrificial substitutionary death
in payment for our individual personal sins --
which he took in our place when He died on the Cross.

Today's hymn speaks/sings about that.

Garments for the King

“All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia,
out of the ivory palaces,
whereby they have made thee glad”

            (Psalm 45:8).

This is but one of many many Old Testament prophecies about the then future advent (coming) of Jesus --

the advent of Christmas which we celebrated yesterday.

So what did this verse tell us about the little baby in the manger?
