Chistopher's New Heart

Several years ago we made several posts about a little boy named Christopher who was born with serious heart defects.

They were so serious that he had to have a heart transplant.

Many DITers followed the story of his operation, post operative complications, and progress.  The picture here is when he was having a renal transplant when he was about 3 years old.

Christopher is now 10 years old and it's time for a followup.

Today's click through is a presentation by Christopher's father that tells about Christopher, the heart transplant, and much much  more.

Pull up a chair and listen.  You will be glad you did.

Today is Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine’s day !

In America, many folks celebrate this day with Cards, Flowers (Roses, Bouquets, etc.), Chocolates, Jewelry, and even proposals of Marriage.

But, believe it or not, this is not just an American Holiday.

In Finland, for example, it is known as “Friend’s Day”

and in Guatemala it is known as “Day of Love and Friendship.”

And doubtless many other countries also celebrate this day.

But regardless of where you are -- Happy Valentines day.

Today is GROUNDHOG Day

Yes, today is the day -- when we find out if winter continues or Spring comes soon.

According to Wikipedia: "Groundhog Day is a popular tradition celebrated in Canada and the United States on 2 February.
It derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will persist for six more weeks,
and if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early."

Surely you have seen the famous movie that depicts this event in a Hilarious way --- If you haven't, you really need to see it asap.

There are several Groundhogs in the US who predict this event for us, the most famous being the Punxsutawney Groundhog.

Christian Yoga?

We are still early in the new year and that means that many folks are starting their diets, exercising at the health club, and otherwise keeping their New Year's Resolutions.

Among the 'exercises' that many people, even Christians, have taken up either as a New Year's Resolution or just because they want to is

             Yoga.

I have had discussions with several Christians about Yoga and they all try to say that it is 'just another form of exercise.'

But is it?

This article will help answer that question.

Spurgeon's Morning and Evening

As the New Year begins, many are contemplating New Year Resolutions --

One of those Resolutions likely includes something like "to Get closer to God and do daily meditations"

The click through today will help you do that.

What is it? you ask.

Well, there is a classic book of Daily Devotions / Meditations that will be of great assistance in your resolution.

It is titled "Morning and Evening"

and was written by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, pictured here.

He was a British Preacher who lived from 1834 to 1892.

But back to the thought of Daily Devotions and New Year's Resolutions --

As we mentioned --One of his most helpful books was a book of devotions titled Morning and Evening.

You can put it on your smart phone or tablet

Or you can buy it in book form

Or you can go to a free website that provides the daily devotions. That is today's click through.

Either way, this is a wonderful way to add to your daily devotional time.

So with that said,

Wow ! It's 2020 !!!

Well, it is that time of the year again --The time when the old year ends and a new year begins.

And, as this is being uploaded to the web, the famous Times Square New Year’s Eve ball has just dropped. And 2020 has begun !

Some people ignore the event and just sleep through it.

          BUT

Many folks saw the new year “in” while in prayer.

Others celebrate the coming of the new year in crazed and drunken parties.

Still others will be at home alone or with family or friends or at calmer parties but stop to watch via TV the Ball Drop in Times Square.

And, each year that ball gets larger, more ornate, more impressive, and more expensive.

As you probably know, the Ball is now made of (gasp) Waterford Crystal !

And speaking of the The Ball drop in New York City.

Everyone loves it.

But how did this tradition get started?

To find out HERE'S THE LINK TO the History of the Times Square Ball

It's New Year's eve

At midnight in each time zone as the new year rolls around the world -- things happen !

The Ball drops in Times Square of New York.

The Peach drops in Atlanta, Ga.

Fireworks light up the sky in many cities and communities around the world.

Families and friends light fire crackers and small firework displays in their yards.

Some people observe the passing of the old year and the beginning of the new year in prayer, reading the Bible, attending group worship services, working, or perhaps sleeping.

But, whether you are awake or asleep, reveling, celebrating, or worshipping,

the Old year passes and a New Year begins.

Of course, no one knows what will happen in 2020.  It is yet to unfold.

But here's wishing you a Happy New Year.

No click through today -- just contemplate or whatever

What is a Christian?

There is a lot of confusion these days about ‘What is a Christian’.

Some just use the name, 'Christian’, without understanding what a real Christian is.

Their life styles do not suggest that they are a Christian as often the person lives, acts, thinks, talks, etc. just like a non-Christian.

So what is a Christian really?

Well, a good and succinct answer to that question came in a snail mail letter that I received awhile back from Samaritan's Purse.

Going to their website I was unable to find it posted online so perhaps it is only in printed form.

Not knowing who wrote it, though it might have been Franklin Graham, the President of Samaritan’s Purse, still, it is definitely a must read.

So, without further ado --

to read this answer for yourself,

HERE'S THE LINK TO What is a Christian
