What are "Kinds" in Genesis

            

In the first chapter of Genesis, we learn that God created plants and animals "according to their kinds"

What are "Kinds"?  you ask.

Current terminology in schools today speak of genus, species, etc. but the term '"kind" is not mentioned.

So, what exactly is a "kind" and how does it relate to the terminology used today?
