George Beverly Shea has died

Soloist for the Billy Graham Crusades, George Beverly Shea was 104.

Known as "America's beloved Gospel singer", he is perhaps best known for his rendition of "How Great Thou Art".

In addition to singing for the Billy Graham Crusades, he was also a well know singer on his own, with more than 70 albums.

The link to which you will be taken today gives a brief history of his life (but you will notice that the writer called him a 'she' -- hmmm, I guess either the name Beverly was confusing or the writer's spellcheck didn't recognized that 'she' should have been 'he' or 'Shea'.)

By the way, according to Wikipedia, "It was on "Club Time"(a radio program that he hosted from 1944-1952) that Beverly Shea became George Beverly Shea at the insistence of the advertising agency; it seems they felt most listeners were confused by a man named 'Beverly.'"

Anyway, a giant of the Christian Soloists has gone to heaven and is now singing in the heavenly choir.

Yes, he will be missed here but fortunately we still have recordings of his God-honoring voice.

To read more and to view short videos of him singing "How Great Thou Art" and "The Wonder of it All", HERE'S THE LINK.

And, of course, good ole Wikipedia has considerable additional interesting and insightful information which you will definitely want to know.   HERE'S THE LINK
