Today is the first day of Hurricane season

Oh, no!

Yes.  'Tis true.

It is that time of the year again.

The picture today is a NASA photo of Hurricane Isabel, which was taken from the International Space Station.

Technically and officially, hurricane season begins on June 1 and extends through November 30.

The National Weather Service has a website that will keep you up to date on the tropical storms and hurricanes.  You can find it AT THIS LINK.

You will probably want to bookmark that link and refer back to it from time to time as the storms begin to form.

Whether you live in or close to coastal areas, will be vacationing in those regions, or have friends or relatives there, you and they will want to be prepared.

Prepared?  What should be done to prepare, you say.

Well, the Government has very helpful suggestions.

I found two links that you will want to check out.

As the old adage goes, "It is better to be safe than sorry."

FEMA has information about Hurricanes and preparation advice. HERE'S THE LINK

And another Government site has additional suggestions.  HERE'S THE LINK
