Where is the Tower of Babel?

The picture here is the well known 1563 painting of the Tower of Babel by Pieter Bruegel the Elder.

Today, no one knows for sure what the Tower of Babel really looked liked. 

This is just one of several artists renditions.

But that is only half the problem.

Not only are we not sure what it looked like but apparently its precise location is not nailed down either.

Doubtless you have heard most of the suggestions and have pondered them.
