The Cosmos Series on TV

As you are probably aware, a very famous TV series titled 'Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey" was produced for TV.

It consisted of 13 episodes which are now available on Video DVDs for use by schools, families, and more.

But, alas and alack, before you buy this series or if / when your child / grandchild / or friend's children see this series in the school classrooms or wherever,

you need to be aware of its profoundly atheistic and evolutionary teachings.

Indeed, these teachings are so blatant that someone needed to provide a response from the Christian worldview.

And that 'someone' has done this.

Answers in Genesis has provided a brilliant set of articles and Discussion Guides that can be used by parents, grandparents, Sunday School Teachers, Pastors, Youth Directors, and others to counter the atheistic evolutionary views in this series.

More about Cavemen -- who were they

Recently we posted a DIT about Cavemen.

Today we want to consider Cavemen in more detail.

For instance, why did they live in caves?

Did people only live in caves long long ago (millions of years ago as the evolutionists propose)

Or have more current people lived in caves?  And if so, who, when, where.

These and other questions will be discussed in the article to which we are linking today.

The F-35B

Our DIT friend who finds interesting and amazing airplane videos has struck again.

What is it this time, you ask?

Well, seems there is a most unusual airplane or is it a helicopter or ???

Anyway, this unusual 'flying thing' which takes off like an airplane and lands like a helicopter is the F-35 B.

The commentary that was sent with the email containing the link said:

"This video link was made for the public in the Atlantic Ocean, just off  Newport News  (Hampton Roads), Virginia.

These are sea trials of the F-35B on the USS Wasp. They were very successful, with 74 VL's and STO's in a three week period.

The media and the program critics had predicted that they would burn holes in the deck and wash sailors overboard.

Neither of which happened.

You will notice a sailor standing on the bow of the ship as the jet rotates.

That was an intentional part of the sea trials."

So, with that by way of introduction, you will definitely want to view this 3 minute video of a most unusual airplane taking off and landing on the Navy Aircraft Carrier, the USS Wasp..

What do Americans believe about Heaven and Hell?

Recently a friend of DIT gave us the link to an article that is very disturbing.

Disturbing?

Why?

Well, it seems that Ligonier Ministries was becoming concerned about the "temperature of America's Theological health".

So they commissioned a study by Lifeway Research.

The article to which we are linking today gives the result of that study.

You will be amazed and likely saddened as you read it.

Christopher is 5 Years Old

Hard to believe that 5 years have flown by and "Baby" Christopher is not a baby any more.

Pictured here is how he looked 5 years ago just after his heart transplant had been performed.

For those of you who have followed his 'health adventures' this update will thrill you.

For those of you who do not know his story --

"Baby" Christopher was born with a severe heart defect -- so severe that he had to have a heart transplant when about one month old.

Following the transplant, he remained in the hospital for almost 2 ½ years because his kidneys failed and he needed constant dialysis.

Then when about 3 years old he received a renal transplant from his dad --

and since then he has been at home growing and becoming a 'neato kiddo.'

Recently his dad wrote an article that was published in the Register Guard in Eugene, Oregon (a Newspaper for which he had worked) telling of Christopher's 5th Birthday.

You will definitely want to read this article and see a picture of how he looks today.

Don't get any X-Rays this week !!!

Why?

Because most Radiologists are not at their Hospitals and Clinics.

What are they doing?  Where are they?

They are attending the premier RSNA Meeting.

Each year a zillion (well 8,000 or so) Radiologists from the United States and around the world attend the week long RSNA meeting.

What is RSNA?

RSNA is 'short' for Radiological Society of North America.

It is the premier meeting for Radiologists not only in North America but around the entire globe.

It meets annually for a week at this time of the year, usually in Chicago.

Why are we mentioning this now? you ask.

Well, in addition to this being the most important and cutting edge assembly for Radiologists, Radiological Physicists, and other related Health Professionals,

RSNA also has developed a website that will likely be of interest to you, your family, or your friends.

What?

Yes. RSNA has a website with information for patients about studies they might be getting.

So, if you have had or have been told to have such studies as MRI, CT, PET scans, IVPs, Barium Enemas, etc. etc. etc. and are wondering what the exam entails, this website will provide much needed information.

Sunday Hymn -- When we walk with the Lord

It is Sunday and time for our Hymn.

Today it is a well known Hymn played on a piano -- perhaps as you used to hear it years and years ago before the snare drums and big bands entered the Church scene.

Yes, the words are included so you can sing along.

Budapest Air Show

Continuing with the subject of flying and airplanes -- as we are 'wont to do from time to time --

Our pilot friend who finds these things has 'struck again'.

This time she has found a video of highlights from the 2014 Air Show in Budapest.

Many of these stunts would never be allowed in the USA -- but they 'got away with them' in Budapest.

You will be amazed.

What to do with the Thanksgiving Leftovers

Yesterday was a day of feast and plenty.  And, wow what a good time everyone had and yum yum were all the dishes.

Yes, the Thanksgiving meal was wonderful and bountiful.

But now there are lots of leftovers.

What to do?  These leftovers are way too tasty to just throw out. or to give to the dog.

The famous turkey sandwich route is a staple left over ‘idea’.

But what else?

Well, with this question in mind and needing some answers,

we found a few sites with some really tasty and creative suggestions about what to do with those leftovers.

and if that isn’t enough HERE’S ONE MORE link to Turkey leftovers

Today is Thanksgiving

Today is my very favorite ‘Holiday’, Thanksgiving.

When I think of Thanksgiving my thoughts turn to turkey, dressing, wonderful side dishes, pies, cakes, and fellowship with friends and family --

as we give thanks to God for all the many blessings He has given us in the past year and indeed in our lifetimes.

What a wonderful holiday.

Hopefully you are observing this event with family and friends.

Or perhaps you are serving meals at a Church, Mission, etc.

Or, you might even be working.

But whatever you are doing, this is a very important time to Thank God for our blessings.

You probably know some of the history of this Holiday.

But, ‘thanks’ to the Revisionist History that is so rampant these days, the true history of Thanksgiving may be becoming muddled in your mind.

So to ‘unmuddle’ (is there such a word? probably not)  that history, our link today tells the true History.

So, with that by way of introduction

Doubtless you have heard of the Northern Lights.

Their 'scientific' name is Aurora Borealis when seen in the Northern Hemisphere.

Pictured here are green Northern Lights as taken from the ISS Expedition 6 Team.

But they can be seen in other colors (red, pink, purple, yellow, green, etc).

Our click through today will provide eight amazing facts about

Colugos

Colugos?  What in the world is that? you ask.

Well, this is a very unusual animal that spends most of its life gliding from tree to tree.

It spends almost no time on the ground.

You probably have not seen this amazing creature (unless you live in the forests of Southeast Asia).

But, thanks to an article in a recent Answers Magazine, you can learn about this very strange animal.

So, without further ado,

When did Cavemen live?

This is a question that has evoked much controversy in recent years.

Folks (with the evolutionary world view) think cavemen lived hundreds of thousands or millions of years ago.

The Biblical account would equate cavemen as descendants of people who were dispersed at the Tower of Babel event.

So which view is correct?

This excellent article has some very helpful information for you to consider as you ponder the answer to the question.

Sunday Hymn -- "I'd rather have Jesus"

George Beverly Shea, "America's beloved Gospel Singer" and Soloist for the Billy Graham Crusades for decades, passed away April 16, 2013.

He was 104 years old.

You surely recall his deep Baritone voice singing Hymns such as "How Great Thou Art", "Old Rugged Cross", "It is no Secret", and many many more.

The Hymn to which we are linking today, "I'd rather have Jesus", was sung by him at many Billy Graham Crusades.

You will be interested to know that although he didn't write the words to this song, he did write the music for it.

Some readers of DIT may recall a person named "Poppa Bear".  This was his favorite hymn.  Perhaps it is yours also.

46 more life hacks

"Life hacks" -- seems to be another new fangled title in the 21st century.

And, just between you, me, and the gatepost -- it is an odd term and I have no idea what it really means except to assume it is something like 'cool suggestions' or 'helpful hints from Heloise'

But whether you call these 'life hacks' as the young friend of DIT who found these would call them

or

if you call them 'Hints from Heloise' as old folks might call them --

by any title

these are wonderful.

Well, most of them are wonderful -- we do NOT advocate the 'hacks' for the wine and the beer --

But, transfer those 'hacks' / 'hints' to soft drinks or lemonade or whatever, and one can still use them.

And there are a few others that may or may not be helpful

but -- bottom line

You will surely get some great ideas from this list of 46 --

So, without further ado

Was the Dispersion at Babel a real event?

Folks debate and debate about whether the Biblical account of Babel is real or 'just a story'.

Perhaps you have wondered about this.

Well, to help you in your understanding of what happened we have found an interesting article.

Actually it is a short chapter from a book.

You will learn a lot.

Can you imagine a Boeing 767 as a glider?

Probably not

because

The Boeing 767 is a 'state of the art' airplane that is not intended to glide like a glider.

But in one instance Air Canada Flight 143, now nicknamed the Gimil Glider, became a glider.

Why?

Well sometimes 'state of the art' has its drawbacks in that that when the engines go out -- almost everything else goes out -- especially in the Boeing 767-233.

It seems that in that aircraft the engines provide the power needed for most of the instruments …

and

well, you guessed it.

A series of 'happenings' occurred that aren't on the checklist of 'what to do when …"

So, you ask:  "What happened?"

Good question.

A friend of DIT, who has a daughter and a son who are both commercial airline pilots (so she is attuned to such things), found this article and told us about it.

N.B. neither the daughter nor the son was one of the pilots in this situation.

Anyway

You will be amazed.

Dinosaur - The Allosaurus

A very interesting article about the Allosaurus Dinosaur was in the recent issue of Answers Magazine.

If you don't subscribe to this magazine, you should.

Why?

Because it has articles such as this and many more very informative articles each quarter.

But that (subscribing) is for then and this is for now.

And now we want to link you to a very interesting article in the Oct-Dec 2014 issue of Answers Magazine.
