How much is a billion?

With all this talk about a coming fiscal cliff in which Politicians and Pundits are talking in the terms of Trillions, a Billion may seem like small stuff.

But, how much is a Billion really?

And since Old Earthers (Evolutionists) throw around billions of years as they discuss the age of the earth, perhaps we should look again at how much a Billion of anything (money, years, whatever) really is.
