Awhile back several of us went to the Boeing plant near Seattle, took the tour, and saw the various Boeing airplanes under construction.
Needless to say, it was a never to be forgotten experience.
What a HUGE building! And, of course, several huge planes were being built in it including the Boeing 787, the Dreamliner.
After the tour was over, one of our group asked us: “Of all that you saw, what was the most impressive?”
To which we as one replied unhesitatingly, “Seeing the 787 Dreamliner being built!”
Yes, the Dreamliner is going to be quite a plane. But, having undergone so many delays for so many reasons, I was beginning to wonder if it would be finished in my lifetime.
Well, perhaps not that dire of a wait.
But, apparently it is now undergoing flight tests and hopefully will begin flying commercially in 2011.
If you would like to get an idea of what happens during some of these tests, then you will appreciated this 2 minute 54 second video. (You might have to hit 'reload' a few times to get the video to load in the blank space. At least I had to do that. So persevere, the video is there.) HERE’S THE LINK
