The most dangerous intersection in the world

         

Yesterday we saw a video of a flying car.

Perhaps that is what is needed to avoid the mayhem that we will see today.

What mayhem? you ask

Well, what you are going to view is claimed to be the "most dangerous intersection in the world"

It makes round-abouts  (which I hate)  look like child's play.

So as you check out this video, you will likely agree that this IS the most dangerous intersection in the world and would opt for the flying car instead, if that were possible.

Flying Car

         

Yes, yes, folks have invented flying cars before.

And we have posted some from time to time here as a DIT.

The flying car we will see today is truly amazing and much more feasible than most.

It is probably less expensive also.

But, the real purpose of this flying car is not to just joyride --

It was designed and developed by Steve Saint (yes THAT Steve Saint -- the son of the missionary father killed in Ecuador -- you may have seen the movie that was made about the murders).

We mention that because Steve originally conceived the idea to develop a flying car in order to help Missionaries who need emergency evacuations for illness, accidents, etc --  

but are unable to get out because of being in locations that are so far from civilization that without air evacuations, they would die.

This vehicle was designed to help those folks.

This video gives more details and lets you see it in action.

Alas there is a brief commercial and a short lag till the video begins but be patient, it will start and you will be amazed!

Jesus' wife ???

         

Jesus' wife ??? 

How can that be?

Well, it can't -- 

but around Easter each year, various 'news things' appear with the purpose of trying to debunk Christ's birth, life, death, and resurrection.

Sometimes the 'things' include reports saying Jesus did not die on the cross -- but lived and had a wife and children.

2014 was no exception to the attempts to debunk.

How so?

Well, supposedly there was the discovery of the "Jesus' Wife Papyrus …"

The scroll fragment pictured here is not that document but is likely similar to the fragment that was reported.

The article to which we are linking today explains about the Papyrus and provides further information about Jesus' death and resurrection.

Recently a friend found an amazing link and sent it to us.

What is it?

Well, it is, as the title of the DIT says -- views of Church Ceilings.

And, by the way, this Church interior picture was taken by a friend of DIT on a recent trip.  He looked up and saw a beautiful ceiling. We thought it would be a great intro picture for today's DIT.

Probably your Church ceiling doesn't look like the one he saw or the ones you will be viewing

Supermoon

           

Ok Guys and Gals --- Tonight is the night !!

The night?  For What ?

Tonight is one of those nights when you can see a Supermoon !!!

Actually, this year there will be three (count them 1,2, 3) supermoons.

They will occur on July 12 (tonight), August 10, and September 9.

So what is a supermoon?

Well, according to a quote on the earthsky.org website, a Supermoon is "… a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit."

Of course, that explanation is kinda wordy and esoteric.

But whatever you decide to do -- be sure to go outside and check out the Supermoon tonight.

And -- HINT -- the best time to see it is at sunset tonight when it will appear to be even larger because, as the NASA website explains:

"The illusion occurs when the Moon is near the horizon.  For reasons not fully understood by astronomers or psychologists, low-hanging Moons look unnaturally large when they beam through trees, buildings and other foreground objects. When the Moon illusion amplifies a perigee Moon, the swollen orb rising in the east at sunset can seem super indeed."

So go outside and check out tonight's Supermoon!!!!! You will be glad you did

Snails

           

 Oh the 'lowly snail' -- as some might say.

The Snail pictured here was taken by Jürgen Schoner and posted on Wikipedia.

Folks see the slimy trails of snails, perhaps say 'ug' and walk on 

because

as one towers over them -- being that most observers are 4, 5, or 6 or more feet tall,

snails seemed rather insignificant.

But, if you would kneel down and get a closer look

you would likely be amazed at their beauty.

Someone did this -- and took photos -- so we can see snails in a way you have likely never imagined.

This is great.

Insane Domino Tricks

         

Saw this on Facebook and knew you would want to see it also.

What is it?

Well, as the title of the DIT states -- it is Insane Domino Tricks

which is not an understatement.

If you love to watch fancy Domino tricks, you are going to love this.

Obviously some folks had toooooo much time on their hands to put this all together.

But aren't we glad they did!

Wow.

Hail Glaciers

         

 Hail Glaciers?

What is that?

Well, it is a rare but very real phenomenon 

and a friend of DIT found this link telling about it.

In this particular instance, the event occurred in New Mexico, USA, during the late summer of 2004.

The hailstone pictured here measures 6 cm in size (2.36 inches) and is an example of a large hailstone -- though it was not a part of the Hail Glacier in this story.

Today is the 4th of July -- Is your Flag Flying?

              

July 4 is a very important day in the History of the United States of America.

Also known as Independence Day, it is observed with fireworks, cookouts, concerts, parades, and many more festivities.

But, why is this day so important?

Years ago we didn’t have to ask that question.

But in recent years, many facts about this day and the surrounding days and years have become hazy, foggy, and even non-existent.

Bottom line answer as to why this day is important as described on Wikipedia is:

“During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the American colonies from Great Britain occurred on July 2, 1776, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed in June by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia."

"After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a Committee of Five, with Thomas Jefferson as its principal author. Congress debated and revised the Declaration, finally approving it on July 4.”
So, The Declaration of Independence was signed, the Revolutionary war ensued and many lives and fortunes were lost, but ultimately the signers and patriots prevailed and the United States of America was established.

Soft Tissues in Fossils

          

There have been several news articles and reports in the past few years telling of fossils containing soft tissues.

Soft Tissues in fossils said to be Millions of years old?

How can this be?

Well, bottom line -- it can't be.

Soft tissues do not last that long.

Soooo, hmmmmm.  This suggests that the fossils are not as old as we are told.

Now that is a conundrum.

So, how can this be explained?
