Beneful Commercial

Yes, this is a commercial.

But, it is sooooooo cute.

The DIT friend who sent us this link in an email correctly commented:

"How long do you think it took someone to set this up?"

So, what is it? you ask.

Well, it is a Rubes Goldberg type commercial. Really Cute.

Today is National Grandparents Day

Grandparents day has been observed in the US on the First Sunday after Labor Day since 1978.

According to Wikipedia there is even a special flower for Grandparents.

What is it?  Well, it is the flower pictured here and it is appropriately named "Forget Me Nots."

Today's DIT is to 'honor' those of you who are grandparents and to bring a smile to those that aren't.

Either way, the email which I recently received, and which has probably gone around the internet a zillion times already, was new to me.

I have no idea who wrote this but they certainly know their 'facts'.

So, without further ado, check out this information about a very special 'Answering Machine' that Grandparents have or wish they have plus some very interesting facts about grandparents as related by their grandchildren.

How Old is the Universe?

Is the Universe really Billions of years old?

Or is it young?

You will find folks defending both views.

But, obviously, both views can not be correct.

Are there any provable scientific facts that might help in deciding?

Well, as a matter of fact, there are.

This 1 minutes 23 seconds video presents a known fact about the moon which will help you understand why the universe can not be billions of years old.

Today begins Rosh Hashanah

What is Rosh Hashanah?

It is First Day of the Jewish New Year and is also known as "The Feast of Trumpets"

This Holiday covers two days since the exact time it begins is based on when the first sliver of the New Moon is sighted.

Even though it is shown on the calendar to begin this year at Sundown today and extend through sundown tomorrow, IF the New Moon is not seen today, then the day will be observed tomorrow beginning at sundown and extending through the next day.

So we are leaving this DIT up for 2 days since one is not exactly sure when it will be observed.

In fact, this is the ONLY Jewish Holiday that 'no one knows for sure when it will begin'.   Hmmmm.  Does this ring a bell in your thought process?

Also, leaving this DIT up for two days will give you time to hear the Shofar sounds and read the wonderful summary article explaining about this very important time of Celebration for Jews and Christians.

Christians? Why is a Jewish Holiday important to Christians?

Well, when you read the article you will find out.

God's Creation Pictures

Do you know about Pinterest?

What is it?

Well, according to the definition on the site, it is an "online pinboard" where folks "organize and share the things (they) love".

Today is a perfect example of this Pinboard in action.

Why?

Because some Pinterest member has posted a bunch of beautiful pictures of various things God has created.

Kudos and thanks to whomever it was who assembled these pictures

Anyone who thinks these creatures, flowers, trees, mushrooms, insects, etc etc etc REALLY just happened by chance --

should take a close look at the things pictured on the Pinboard.

The colors, intricate details, beauty, precision, etc etc etc should give pause to anyone who does not believe these things were created but 'just happened by chance'.

Check these out and see what you think -- design? or accident?

What it takes to be great at sports

A friend enjoyed the recent (Aug 19 / 13) DIT about the 9 golf puts that all went in  and said it was a reminder of a video about 10 basketballs in a similar feat  --

Basketballs?

During football season?

Well, yes.   The basketballs are icing on the cake and occur at the end of the 1 minute 52 second video.

But the main part of the video (after commercial that can be deleted after a few seconds) is amazing.

Why?

Because it shows the workout that Jeremy Lin, the famous Pro Basketball Star, does in order to be even better than his already awesome natural ability.

Wow!

Mind Meld to control another guy's finger

Hmmmm

Now this is interesting.

As you know, much work is being done in the new field of H+ (Trans Humanism).

This is likely in that same category.

What is it? you ask.

Well, it seems that an experiment has been reported in which one person thinks and another person's finger does what the first guy thought.

And there's more.

As you might suspect, it is not just humans, but rats and monkeys are being controlled, too.

As you can imagine, this can open the door to many things.

The article also has a short video with more details.

Airbus A380 Approach and Landing at San Francisco

A friend of DIT who is a pilot sends us interesting flying videos from time to time.

This time she found another one that is really interesting.

What is it?

Well, as explained in her email:

"This is pretty interesting to watch. The pilots sit away from everything, no yoke, etc. Captain pulls up a keyboard once in a while to enter info ... but the plane does most of the work.

The humongous A380 makes its first landing at San Francisco airport. It seems extensively automated. When the air traffic controller gives them heading, altitude, and speed, they dial it in. Looks like it (almost) lands itself, too. Pretty interesting." ...
You will notice that this is the German Airline, Lufthansa, and this was the maiden flight into San Francisco by the Big Airbus A380.
Why do we mention that?
Because, if you continue to watch after the landing you will hear the Music and see the Water welcome ceremony which is done for important flights such as this.
This is a rather longish video (14 minutes 25 seconds) -- but if you are a pilot, a wannabe pilot, or have wondered what goes on in the cockpit, then this video is for you.
You might even want to view this more than once.  We did.
