Happy Father's Day

 We observed / celebrated Mother's day last month.

This month is when the Dad's get their Day.

Most Human Dads have only a few children.

But do you know about seahorses?

Do you know that it is the Male Seahorse that gives birth?

I kid you not.

So, as Human folks are celebrating Father's Day today, Human Dads need to be grateful that they are not Seahorses.

Of course, if every child of the Seahorse dad brought a present, made a phone call, or whatever, he would be a very busy and happy Dad.

Did the Ark have a Sail?

You have doubtless seen the many cartoonish versions of Noah's Ark.

You know the ones --  such as the one pictured here with animals poking their heads out of holes and standing on the deck.

But, Is that how the ark really was?

No.

So what did the Ark look like?

Well, the dimensions and other facts about it are given in the Bible and those do not agree with the cartoonish pictures that are so common today.

Today is Flag Day -- Is your Flag flying?

Flag Day in the United States commemorates the adoption of the U.S. flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.

It was also the Birthday of the late father of one of the friends of this ministry.

And that ‘factoid’ always helps me remember Flag Day.

Arizona Diamondbacks pick paralyzed player

Summertime and we are in the midst of another exciting Baseball season.

But did you hear about the most unusual and amazing draft pick made recently by the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team?

We hadn't until we saw a twitter tweet about it.

What is it?

The name of the draft pick is Cory Hahn and yes he is paralyzed.

Beware of Balaam

Awhile back a SS class in Atlanta had a couple of lessons about Balaam.

Balaam?  Who's he?

Pictured here you see Rembrant's classic painting of God's Angel confronting Balaam as he rode his donkey.  His donkey saw the Angel but Balaam could not.

Long story about what happened but bottom line --

Balaam was an Old Testament Prophet who talked with God -- 

but he did not always obey God and he did things that were wrong -- so wrong that he ultimately led God's people astray.

Sadly, things that Balaam did are being repeated today in the Christian Church.

Therefore, the warnings given in the Old Testament regarding Balaam's errors are worth heeding today.

Engineers without Diplomas

It is Graduation time and all across the US folks are graduating from High School, College, and Graduate schools.

They proudly have diplomas in their various areas of study. 

But did you know that there are many Engineers who have no diplomas yet are exceedingly accomplished in their designs and structures?

Yes !

Who are these Engineers?

What do they build?

Where did they get their education?

Who taught them?

Well, when you check out these pictures it is rather obvious that Evolution was not the reason they are so smart.

Instead, God, their Creator and the Creator of the Universe, endowed them with their Engineering Ability.

Working by Faith

There is a passage in the New Testament that has probably made you scratch your head.

What is it?

Well, in Matthew 20 there is an account about a man hiring workers.  

Some he hired first thing in the day, others later, and still others just before the work day ended.

But, when it came time to pay the workers, everyone got the same pay!

Obviously this caused those who worked all day much dismay.

But, what is the reason for this seeming discrepancy in pay?

The short article to which we are linking correctly begins with the comment: "This parable has long caused perplexity …" 

which is perhaps the understatement of the year (or century or whatever).

But this article also explains the reason for the same pay for all the workers.

The La Brea Tar Pits

You have probably heard of the La Brea Tar Pits, pictured here in a photo taken by Daniel Schwen and posted on Wikipedia.

They are located in Southern California and are famous for their contents.

What contents?

Well, seems that there are fossils of many many animals.  Some are familiar to us today and other are not.

They include fossils of saber-toothed cats, mastodons, camels, and numerous other animals and birds.

As you know, the 'theory' is that these big animals got trapped in the sticky tar and couldn't escape.

But, that might not be what really happened.

This article explains why getting trapped in the tar was not the reason and provides a more logical explanation.

How Helen Keller learned to speak

Some friends of DIT were on a road trip and called excitedly to tell about the link which you will be viewing today.

Were they surfing the Internet in the car ?

Anyway, they were sooooo excited they wanted other DIT'ers to know about this asap.

Well, it is very rare rare footage which tells how Ann Sullivan taught Helen Keller to talk.

You will recall that Helen Keller was blind and deaf !

Usually we are told it was a whale.

And was written by Robert Lowry.

Who is he?

He was a Baptist Minister and Hymn writer who lived from March 12, 1826 till November 25, 1899.

He wrote around 500 Hymns including including "Nothing But the Blood," "Christ Arose" ("Low in the Grave He Lay"), and "Shall We Gather at the River?"

Genomes data suggests young human race

Yesterday we considered the fact that the world might not be nearly as old as the Old Earth-ers would want us to believe.

And they are not going to be happy with the findings in the article to which we will be linking today.

But it was their research that has uncovered the information.

What is it this time?

Well, it seems that a project to sequence human genomes has "uncovered a result that points to a youthful age for the human race."

Wow!  You mean the Bible might be right after all?
