Mardi Gras in Rio

The annual Mardi Gras, also known as the Brazilian Carnival, is  beginning in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Mardi Gras is observed around the world but the one in Brazil is arguabiliy the most famous.

Indeed, Wikipedia states that 70% of the entire annual Brazilian tourist visits occur during this one event.

Folks who have been there during this time can certainly attest to the truth of that statistic since it is wall to wall people with crowds and traffic beyond belief.

There are parades with elaborate floats, loud pulsating music, dancing bands, the samba, and folks wearing fabulous costumes such as the one pictured here.

Since you might not be going to Mardi Gras in Brazil, we thought you would be interested in visiting it vicariously in a flyover.

In this flyover you will see the famous Christ the Redeemer statue, Sugarloaf mountain, and other sites.
