The Ride Along Suitcase

Suitcases have come a long way --

From big trunks on stage coaches and overseas voyages

to hand held suitcases

then to rolling suitcases on 2 wheels such as the one pictured here

and then to the 4 wheeled rolling suitcases

which most folks thought was surely the final evolution of the suitcase --

But wait !!!

Wait?

Yes, it gets even better -- there has been another leap in the evolution of the suitcase !!!

What is it ??? you ask

Well, now we have a suitcase you can ride !!!!

Ride?

Yes, no kidding -- this seems to be the next step in suitcase development

and if it were not so expensive I would want one now.

To learn about and see a short video of the Ridealong Motorized Suitcase HERE'S THE LINK

Computers Unroll and Decipher Scroll

A friend of DIT found this very interesting and unusual article.

What now? you ask

Well it seems that a badly burnt scroll was found but was so badly burned that everyone was afraid to try to unroll it.

It was not a beautiful, easy to unroll and read scroll such as the one pictured here of the Book of Esther.

No -- it was so badly burned and damaged that even touching it could likely totally destroy it.

So, What to do?

Well, believe it or not -- a way was found

A most unusual way.

To find out how the Burnt Scroll was unrolled and deciphered HERE'S THE LINK

Antikythera Mechanism and Human Skeleton

On Monday, May 11, 2009 we posted a DIT about the Antikythera mechanism.

What was it?

It was described by Donald Chittick in his Book, The Ancient Puzzle of Man (pictured here) as

“an analog computing device or ‘computer’ (that) was recovered from a ship which had sunk in the Aegean Sea in the first century B.C. ...”

To read more about and see a picture of this ancient computer HERE'S THE LINK

But the reason we are mentioning it again is because there has been additional information about another discovery related to this Antikythera mechanism.

What is it?

Well, it seems that skeletal remains of at least one sailor, who went down with the ship carrying this unusual OOPA (Out Of Place Artifact),have been found.

Yellow Lines on the TV football field

It is saturday and time for all those many college football games

and you are likely lined up on a couch or at a friend's house or somewhere watching the games on TV --

And doubtless you have noticed that, in addition to the normal white lines marking off each 10 yard segment, there is a Yellow Line (and often other lines) added to the TV screen to help you know where the key points of the play are to take place.

These additional lines are not on the field in 'real life' as those of you who go to the games in person have noticed.

But they are on the TV version and are really helpful.

So, how do these lines get there?  What is the science behind them?

A friend of DIT found this video which explains how it is done. Thanks friend.

Why do leaves change colors in the fall

Yesterday was the Autumnal Equinox

which means, among other things, that the leaves on deciduous trees are going to change colors and fall from the trees.

But why, you ask, do the leaves change from green to other colors?

The brief article to which we are linking today will explain.

HERE'S THE LINK to Why do leaves change colors in the fall

Autumn begins

Wow, how time flies.  Fall is already here and it seems like the year has just begun.

So what is so important about Autumn? you ask.

Well, it means that today is the day that Summer officially ends and Fall begins.

The 'fancy' name for this event is "The Fall Autumnal Equinox."

So what is the Fall Autumnal Equinox and why is it important?

Well, for one thing, it is that special day at the end of summer and the beginning of fall when the sun at the equator rises in the due East and sets in the due West.

This means that both the day and the night are about 12 hours long.

The reason why they are not exactly 12 hours each is explained in the article below.

But, more significantly, to those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the days will now start getting shorter and shorter as each day passes and the nights will get longer and longer and longer ....

Until we come to the Winter Solstice when the shortest day of the year occurs.

But that is then and this is now.

And today is the Fall Autumnal Equinox.

To read more about the Equinoxes and view a really informative 2 min 38 second video from National Geographic, which they posted for the 2009 equinox,  but same concepts apply every year including this year,

God's Perfect way

Why? Why? Why?

This is the common cry of almost everyone when they look at the 'problems' in their life or in the world or of people or of things around them.

And even though asking 'why' is ok, you don't always get an answer or the answer you get is is not what you wanted or expected.

What to do?

Well, this very short article by Dr. Henry Morris has a wonderful explanation when the question Why is asked.

Check it out.

Maker and Owner

"I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me"   Jeremiah 27:5

This short verse from the Bible clearly indicates the origin of the earth and refutes the currently popular 'view' of origins.

For a short explanation of what this really means,

Doesn't the Order of Fossils in the Rock Record Favor Long Ages?

As you well know, the old earth folks teach that fossils 'prove' the earth is old.

But, is this correct?

This brief 3 minute video has an explanation which refutes that theory and explains why, how, and when fossils were laid down.

Today is Mayflower Day

A few years ago, while in Southampton, England I saw a strange outline on the pavement.

It is pictured here.

Hmmm. What is this, I thought --

and then I learned that this was the 'footprint' of the size and shape of the Mayflower.

What a tiny tiny vessel.  How brave those folks must have been.

Today, and every September 16, this brave event is celebrated -- as Mayflower day.

Death is not Good

The article to which we are linking today is soooooo important that we are going to leave it up for 2 days.

Why?

Because we want everyone to read it, contemplate its implications, reread it, and even share it with others.

Wow.  This is amazing, you don't do this often ! you correctly say.

Yes. This is a most unusual event.

But this is a verrrrrry important article.

If you carefully read it and consider what it is saying, it can be life changing in your World View.

Easy "Roast" Whole Chicken in a Slow Cooker

Folks love roasted chicken -- and they probably already have their favorite way of making and seasoning it.

But the link today has an interesting 'take' on a way to make it even tastier and juicier.

And, yes, I know the picture today is of a turkey but I couldn't find a public domain picture of a chicken and time was running out to post the DIT for Tuesday.  Sigh.

Hymn: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

Today's Hymn is one of Worship and Praise to the Lord God.

Written in the 1600s, it contains words of worship to the powerful, mighty, loving, one and only Creator God of the Universe.

HERE'S THE LINK to Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

Praise to the Lord, the almighty, the King of creations;
O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation:
All ye who hear,
Now to his temple draw near,
Joining in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shieldeth thee gently from harm, or when fainting sustaineth:
Hast thou not seen
How thy heart's wishes have been
Granted in what he ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend thee:
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do,
If to the end he befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him!
Let the Amen
Sound from his people again:
Gladly for ay we adore him.

Tomorrow is Grandparent's Day

Grandparents day has been observed in the US on the First Sunday after Labor Day since 1978.

According to Wikipedia there is even a special flower for Grandparents.

What is it?  Well, it is the flower pictured here and it is appropriately named "Forget Me Nots."

Today's DIT is to remind you that tomorrow is the day to 'honor' those of you who are grandparents and to bring a smile to those that aren't.

Either way, the email which I recently received about grandparents, and which has probably gone around the internet a zillion times already, was new to me.

I have no idea who wrote this but they certainly know their 'facts'.

So, without further ado, check out this information about a very special 'Answering Machine' that Grandparents have or wish they have plus some very interesting facts about grandparents as related by their grandchildren.

The Geological Column

This picture of the Grand Canyon was taken by a good friend of DIT and it vividly shows the many layers.

Usually when you see pictures of the many layers of the Grand Canyon you are told that they were laid down over millions and millions of years.

But, have you considered that they are actually evidence of the worldwide Flood of Noah?

Today we are posting a link to an article (actually it is Chapter 6 in the Book: Evolution Exposed).

This article gives important information about the layers in the Grand Canyon as well as the same or similar layers seen in many other areas of the world.

These layers are part of what as known as "The Geologic Column".

So you ask: What is the "Geologic Column"?

Well, as explained in the article,  the Geologic Column is a "graphic representation of the layers of rock that make up the earth's crust."

After reading this, you will likely look again when you see the layers in the Grand Canyon, other canyons, and in the ever the ubiquitous road cuts all over the world.

Jesus did not exist

This is the title of an article to which we are linking today.

The reason for the article was to answer a question that arose as a result of the recent report that a papyrus had been found that told about Jesus being married.

This 'find' was later found (pun intended) to be untrue.

But, during the few days before the correction was made, many folks believed the lie.

One even wrote to AIG asking about it and stating that he believed Jesus did not ever exist.

The insightful reply to this person is the article to which we are linking.

You will find it most interesting and encouraging.

Spoiler alert:  Jesus DID exist and there is much historical evidence to prove His existence.

So with that by way of introduction

HERE'S THE LINK to Jesus did not exist

Can Creationists be Real Scientists

It may seem like we are mentioning this topic a lot

and perhaps so

but the discussion continues and the secularists continue to be adamant that Creationists can't be real Scientists.

This is important because by characterizing the Creationist Scientists as not capable, their work often never sees the 'light of day' --

Their articles and papers are rejected and not published --

Their discoveries and findings are not noted or appreciated --

They loose their jobs or positions (in educational institutions and etc) because they do not 'toe the line' of the evolutionary worldview

and etc.

So, when we 'happened upon' this video, even though we have mentioned this topic several times recently, we thought you would want to see it also.

The speaker is himself a Creation Scientist, Dr. Jason Lisle, who has a PhD in Astrophysics.

Now I call that 'real' science.

So, HERE'S THE LINK to Can Creationists be Real Scientists.

Journey away from Contemporary Music

As you probably have suspected based on the Hymns that are usually posted on the DITs for Sundays --

we are not big fans of the contemporary style of music in Churches but prefer Hymns.

There are several reasons why -- which we will not go into at this time

because

the article to which we are linking today discusses many of the 'reasons'.

Interestingly it is written by a Musician who used to be 'into' the Contemporary music but is now moving away from that and back to Hymns.

I think you will find his insights very interesting.

Hymn: Thine is the Glory

Today's Hymn was written by Handel and is well known and much loved.

And the message is, as is usual with the 'old' hymns, contains profound gospel insights.

HERE'S THE LINK to Thine is the Glory

Thine is the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son;
Endless is the victory, Thou o'er death hast won;
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
Kept the folded grave clothes where Thy body lay.

Refrain

Thine is the glory, risen conqu'ring Son,
Endless is the vict'ry, Thou o'er death hast won.

Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
Lovingly He greets us, scatters fear and gloom;

Let the church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing;
For her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting.

Refrain

No more we doubt Thee, glorious Prince of life;
Life is naught without Thee; aid us in our strife;
Make us more than conqu'rors, through Thy deathless love:
Bring us safe through Jordan to Thy home above.

Refrain

It's football time

At long long last, the College Football season is beginning.

Usually, as you know, the College games are on Saturday.

But for Tennessee, the well know phrase "It's football time in Tennessee" will ring out at kick off on Thursday, September 1 at 7:30 EST on the SEC Network.

But several months earlier --

During the Orange vs White Tennessee Vols spring football practice in 2016,

the football to begin the practice was delivered by the Navy Seals in the "Tennessee Jump"

You may wonder what it is like to parachute into a Football stadium.

Well, wonder no more because

You can Live the experience in this video as you watch the Navy Seals parachute  into Neyland Stadium, the Tennessee Football stadium in Knoxville.

Landmarks to look for are the city of Knoxville, the Tennesse River, and, of course,  the stadium.

This is really cool.
