Italian Motorcycle Police Riders

 This is truly amazing.

Probably many of you DIT readers have been in Marching Bands in High School or College and did the intricate drill marching patterns in the Half Time shows during Football season.

Or you may not have marched but just enjoyed seeing others do the precision maneuvers.

But, how about doing these things on Motorcycles??

Well, back in the 50s (that's the 1950's to you young folks), precision Motorcycle drills were apparently 'the thing to do' in Italy.

This is a short video (only 1 minute 16 seconds) but, wow, it runs circles (pun intended) around Marching Bands.

Mission Impossible Squirrel

Recently while visiting friends in another town in another state, we discovered that there were very clever squirrels visiting their yard.

Their squirrels that were managing to eat the bird food out of the elevated and supposedly 'squirrel proof' containers didn't have to 'jump through as many hoops' as you will see in today's video.

But, they did drive my friends nutz (pun intended)

To view a short (41 second) video of a really smart squirrel, HERE'S THE LINK

Sleep vs. Ice Cream

Perhaps you can identify with the little fellow in the DIT today.

Hint: Have you ever been soooooo sleepy that you can hardly stay awake but know you need to for one reason for another?

For example, have you nodded off in a boring lecture in school?

Or, how about Sunday Mornings during the sermon?  Have you seen folks nodding off?

Well, the video today is of a little kiddo who really wants to stay awake and has a real reason to stay awake -- but he is soooooooo sleepy.

The video is 3 minutes 10 seconds in length; you don't have to watch it all but you will 'eat this up' (pun intended).

Today is Memorial Day

Memorial Day used to be called "Decoration Day" because that was, and still is, the day when folks go to Cemeteries and decorate the graves of their loved ones as well as the Military who have died in the numerous wars.

It began after the Civil War and has continued since that time.

However, sadly, many people today do not know of the origin or real meaning of this Day .

They just consider this to be another occasion for a long weekend in which they have cookouts, perhaps take a short trip, and just generally have fun.

So, before you 'goof off' without knowing the reason for this important Holiday, you might want to learn more about the history of this day and how and why it is intended to be observed.  HERE'S THE LINK

Could God Really Have Created Everything in Six Days?

Have you wondered about or asked this question?

Probably.

And so have a zillion other folks.

But, why is it necessary to know the answer to this question anyway?

Well, this article has information that will help you as you ponder this very important question and will also help you know why the correct answer is so important.  HERE'S THE LINK

Easter Island Statues

You probably have heard about and seen pictures of the many strange statues (Moai) on Easter Island.

And indeed, they are not only strange, but their origin and age is debated by many.

Recently some friends of DIT went to Easter Island, which is located in the Pacific Ocean, a couple of thousand miles off the coast of Chile.

They were impressed by these images and, in fact, the picture today, is one which they took.

A recent article says that there is more to some of these statues that meet the eye.

Yes, many of the statues are of heads and bodies but some are seemingly only heads.

However, apparently even those that seem to be only heads also have bodies.

The bodies are actually there but have been buried over time by sediments.

To read more about this, HERE'S THE LINK

Eclipse

Several days ago, there was a major eclipse which was seen by many.

Alas, for some reason, I missed it but it was raining where I was, so this is probably a moot point.

A friend of DIT, who also missed it, found a web link with many actual photos of the event along with quite a few 'trick' and probably photoshopped photos.

But, whether real or photoshopped, these pictures are probably better than seeing it in person.

Why?

Well, as you know, it is very dangerous to view an eclipse of the sun, because if you don't have the proper filters, you will be blinded.

So, to see some really 'neato' pictures of the eclipse which will not hurt your vision, HERE'S THE LINK

So papa, how do you like the iPad we got you?

Recently we got an email with a link to a hilarious (?) but very short video.

It is in German, but not to worry, one of the commenters posted a translation.

Not speaking German myself, we will have to assume the translation is correct.

But when you view the video, I think you will agree that it is.

So, what is the translation? you say.

Well, it goes something like this:

She: "Hey Dad, I didn't ask you yet,
but how do you like the new IPad we gave you yesterday as a birthday present?"

He: "I like."

She: "You cool with handling the apps?"

He: "Hm…? What apps? Could you step aside, please?"

Now, with that by way of introduction, be sure to watch this  32 second video.

'Time is the hero'

For the past couple of days we have read somewhat 'scholarly' answers to the Time vs. Evolution 'problem.

Today let's read an editorial about the subject which also references a book that your children or grandchildren might be reading in school.

That book is titled:  "Billions of Years, Amazing Changes: The Story of evolution" by Laurence Pringle.

You will definitely want to check this out.

Is time really the answer for evolution?

And while we are on the topic of Evolution, there was another article on the website to which we linked yesterday that was also very enlightening.

The title of the article is "Time-no friend of evolution".

It responds to many thoughts, arguments, and questions that folks have about evolution.

As you know, or perhaps as you even personally believe, the good ole 'tincture of time' takes care of a lot of problems -- even the problem of evolution.

Well, yes, time might 'heal' things and take care of disputes, arguments, wounds, etc.

But, time might not be the answer after all when evolution is concerned.

Creation and Redemption: ..

Dr. Albert Mohler Jr., President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has some very interesting and important things to say about Creation and Redemption.

Actually these things were said during a recent interview which was posted online at the Creation Ministries International website.

It is a brief interview, but, I think you will find this verrrrrry instructive and informative.  HERE'S THE LINK

Today is Armed Forces Day

As stated on the Wikipedia site:

"In the United States, Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in May.

It falls near the end of Armed Forces Week, which begins on the second Saturday of May and ends on the third Sunday of May….

The day was created in 1949 to honor Americans serving in the five U.S. military branches – the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard – following the consolidation of the military services in the Department of Defense.
It was intended to replace the separate Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Reserve Units Days, but the separate days are still observed, especially within the respective services. ...
The first Armed Forces Day was celebrated by parades, open houses, receptions and air shows.
In 1962, President Kennedy established Armed Forces Day as an official holiday.
The United States' longest running city-sponsored Armed Forces Day Parade is held in Bremerton, Washington. In 2009, Bremerton celebrated the 61st Armed Forces Day Parade ...
Because of their unique training schedules, National Guard and Reserve units may celebrate Armed Forces Day/Week over any period in May."

Spherical Flying Machine

This is really amazing.

What is it?

A Spherical Flying machine !

Spherical ???

Yes, Spherical.

It was developed by the Japan Ministry of Defense and appears to be a prototype or perhaps it is already a drone.

But regardless of whether it is a prototype or drone or whatever, this is very amazing.
To see a 2 minute 44 second video of this machine in action, HERE"S THE LINK

More helpful ID warnings

Today let's continue with more information on how to protect from ID theft --

You will recall that recently we read about what to do with our Checks …

Today we will look at other ways that folks can garner the information they need to steal a person's ID.

Today's info. came in an email from a friend.

It is one of those emails that 'goes around' reportedly from 'so and so' which may or may not be the real person.

But, laying that aside, the information in the email is very helpful and worthwhile.

ID Theft using your checks

Today's DIT is an interesting article about Checks and what to do with them.

The title of the article is enough to give one pause.

It is:  "Ripping up Checks will not necessarily prevent ID theft."

Oh, No, you say!

Ripping up a check or even shredding it might not be 'safe' !

So what to do.

Well, read this interesting article to get some ideas about what to do and why.

And after you finish reading it, you might want to read a few of the comments as some of them are hilarious -- especially the one by a person named 'Costner' -- It is a hoot.

Space Station 'flying' over the Northern Lights

The other day we 'flew over' Israel and Jerusalem.

Today let's board the Space Shuttle (our dollars at work again) and do another fly over.

This time we will go around the earth several times mainly at night and the lights of the cities will be awesome.

But, even more awesome than the lights below will be the lights above as we will see several passes that will let us also see the Northern Lights!

Wow!

So, fasten your seat belts, put on your virtual space suit, and HERE'S THE LINK

Today is Mother's Day

This is a very special day in Honor and Memory of our mothers.

Many will be attending Church and wearing Roses in their honor and / or memory.

Those of you wearing Red Roses will likely be busy celebrating with her either in person or by phone or Skype or whatever.

Those wearing White Roses are likely reflecting on past times.

So celebrate and / or reflect and we will, Lord Willing, be back tomorrow with another 'Interesting thing'.

Flash Mob in Copenhagen

We've seen, read about, or viewed videos of Flash mobs in various cities and locations in America.

But, did you know that such things are happening elsewhere in the world?

Yes.

A friend of DIT send us a video about a Flash Mob at the Metro in Copenhagen.

You will love it as did the passengers on the train.

For the short but wonderful 2 minute 17 second video.  HERE'S THE LINK

Christopher has glasses

Yes, Little Christopher is now wearing glasses and he isn't 3 years old.

It is another long story

And for those of you who have been following his adventures, you will want to know this latest episode.

For the rest of you, this is still a heartwarming article to which we will be linking today.

What is it?

Well, it seems that, among other things, Little Christopher needed glasses.

Now he has them and is seeing the world as never before.

But, let's let his mother tell the story about this and give her insights on why things happen and how we should respond.   HERE'S THE LINK

Jerusalem and Israel Flyover

Perhaps you can't make it to Atlanta to see the Explore Passages exhibit that we referenced recently.

But you want to take a trip.

So, today, let's go to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem? And Israel?  How can I do that, you say, if I can't even make it to atlanta.

Well, we can do it vicariously through a video.

There is a really beautiful video out there on the web which is a fly-over of parts of Israel and Jerusalem.

It is actually a promo for a 3D Imax film which is scheduled to be released in 2013.

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this really beautiful 7 minute video.  HERE'S THE LINK

Hunger Games

Recently I read several comments on Facebook about the Book and Movie, "Hunger Games".

Everyone that commented had positive things to say which I thought was rather unusual since all the 'commenters' claimed to be God-fearing Christians.

There were no negative comments or warnings but there should have been.

Why?

Well, this 'must read' book review will explain:  HERE'S THE LINK

And, for even more information about this book and movie and the underlying Orwellian themes and influences behind them, HERE'S THE LINK

Explore Passages

A friend of DIT raved over a recent visit to an exhibit in Atlanta.

What was it?

Well, seems that there is an exhibit with a 'zillion' Bibles, scrolls, artifacts, and etc (well, of course, not a 'zillion' but a huge number).

My friend said he spent about 6 hours at the exhibit since there was so much to see.

In addition to many rare and unusual Bibles, he said there was even a Bible that had been printed with Gold Ink!!   Amazing.

This is a temporary exhibit which is on tour around the world and which will ultimately, he said, end up at the Vatican.

The stop in Atlanta has been so well received that it has been extended through June 30, 2012.

So, if you live in, work in, or will be visiting the Atlanta region between now and June 30, you will probably want to check this out.

And if you are making vacation plans, this would be good to consider.

For information about the exhibit, even if you can't go and want to know what you're missing, HERE'S THE LINK

And to learn more about the exhibit and the Ministry which is sponsoring it, HERE'S THE LINK
