Timely Scripture
Last Month we celebrated Mother's Day
And tomorrow we will celebrate Father's Day
So our scripture today is most timely and appropriate.
Exodus 20:12
And tomorrow we will celebrate Father's Day
So our scripture today is most timely and appropriate.
Honor thy father and thy mother:
that thy days may be long upon the land
which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

The Untold story behind DNA similarity
"Not so fast, Henry Higgins, not so fast"
To what am I referring you ask?
Well it seems that we have been repeatedly been told that the DNA of Humans and Chimps is very similar.
Thus, we are told, this 'proves' that evolution occurred.
But the article to which we are linking today is a "Not so fast, Henry Higgins, not so fast" article
in that it provides a lot of interesting and important information that has been left out of the story.

Life in the Blood
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood:
and I have given it to you upon the altar
to make an atonement for your souls:
for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul”
Leviticus 17: 11 KJV
This scripture, though brief, contains a very profound concept.

Today is Flag Day
There are many versions of this event -- some of which agree and others that say that she did not make the first flag.
Therefore, seemingly it is not a 'cast in stone' conclusion that she made the first flag.
But whether she did or not --
The Brief article to which we are linking today tells one version of how it came to be that Betsy Ross made the first American Flag.

The History of Envelopes
Everyone today is very familiar with envelopes and use them constantly.
Indeed sometimes the color of the envelope is significant as are the red ones pictured here.
Why Red? you ask.
Well, In many countries, especially in the East -- Red envelopes are used to present gifts of money.
These red envelopes were New Year's envelopes being sold in Taipei, Taiwan, at the market and were intended for that use.
But thousands of years ago envelopes were totally different from what we have and use today.
The article to which we are linking today gives a brief history
but it has one error -- not that it is an end of the world error -- but when you notice it you will likely wonder.
What is the error?
Well the sentence "Fast forward a couple of HUNDRED years to the 1800s …
should actually read
"Fast forward a couple THOUSAND years to the 1800's …
Other than that
I think you will find this to be a very interesting article.

Supercell Storms
The picture of the clouds posted here was taken by a friend of DIT.
As you can see, the weather at that time was beautiful --
But, alas
It is that time of the year when many parts of the USA experience storms
including severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.
The video to which we are linking today is fascinating
in that it is a collection of short time-lapse videos of various amazing weather events.
The Photographer is Chad Cowan who as a weather chaser travelled over 100,00 miles photographing these storms.

What is it? you ask.
Well, it is a very well known and well liked food item.
We saw some of these when they looked just like this while on a trip to South and Central America (big hint as to the identity of this mystery food).
But when we eat this 'thing' it looks very different.
So with those thoughts by way of a hint,

Music without Sacred Music would be incomplete
You have noticed that almost every Sunday the DIT is a hymn or some form of Worship Music --
and often we feature music by Johann Sebastian Bach.
J.S. Bach was born in 1685 and composed hundreds of pieces of music, much, if not most, of which was of Religious nature.
Indeed he even said:
"The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.
If heed is not paid to this, it is not true music but a diabolical bawling and twanging."

Would Jesus Christ be an Evolutionist
Evolution is now the new paradigm.
It is taught in schools and colleges.
It is present in movies, books, articles in magazines and papers, in Scientific Journals, and more.
Is the theory of evolution true?
Or is it just another concept devised by man to try to explain the existence of all things.
So
The question often asked now is
Would Jesus Christ be an Evolutionist.
The Article to which we are linking today answers that question.

The Historically challenged Young Whippersnappers among us may wonder
What is Memorial Day ?
and how is it different from Veteran's Day ?
Well, for one thing, according to Wikipedia :
"Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veteran's Day" -- which is observed annually on November 11.
"Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving,
while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans."

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust doth corrupt,

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

For where your treasure is,

Many Christians have begun to practice Yoga.

But is this a good thing?
The link to which we are linking today will explain.
But interestingly, at least on the webpage when we logged on to read this link, we found an advertisement on the side for a Free 5-day Meditation course -- apparently using Omharmonics.
We don't know how that ad got there as we are sure that the website would not approve of such a course. Perhaps it was put there because the company with which they have registered their site put it there.
Whatever the reason -- We clicked on a link that will hopefully make it go away but if it is still there when you log in -- ignore that advertisement.

NASA's Largest Picture Ever Taken
Pictured on the left is a NASA photo of our Milky Way.
As you know NASA takes lots of pictures and videos.
The video to which we are linking today is truly amazing.
It shows over 100 million stars and details of one Galaxy (The Andromeda Galaxy)
As you look at the video, you might recall the simple phrase in the Bible regarding the creation of the stars, an event that occurred during the 4th day of creation.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night:
He made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

World's Oldest Computer
This really old computer is known as the Antikythera Mechanism.
It was found in a ship that had sunk in the first century BC in the Aegean Sea.
It has very complicated gears including what appear to be differential gears and is thought to have been used to calculate astronomical positions and etc.
Thus its use on a ship to determine where the ship was would make sense.
We had read about this previously in the book "The Puzzle of Ancient Man" by Donald E. Chittick. The Antikythera Mechanism was described in Chapter One as an OOPA (out of place artifacts).
OOPA, according to Chittick, "are not an anomaly. Instead they attest to a high and technologically advanced civilization in the ancient past."
A friend of DIT found today's link to an article in the Washington Post that tells about this amazing find.

South America shows the Flood Progression
Many people don't believe the Flood described in Genesis happened at all.
Others believe there was a Flood but that it was not world wide but only local.
Indeed the picture today from AIG shows what would have happened if a flood covered some mountains but wasn't worldwide. Sigh
Still others, including those of us at DIT, believe the Bible was correct when it said there was a worldwide flood.
