Morning and Evening

You have surely heard of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the Baptist Preacher who was born in England in 1834.

Known as "The Prince of Preachers", he wrote many many books, commentaries, hymns, poems, and more.

But the reason we are mentioning him here today is because of his book, "Morning and Evening".

It is an excellent Daily Devotional book with, you guessed it, devotionals for both Morning and Evening readings.

It is available in book stores, on the internet (such as we will be using in today's link) and even as an App for your iPhone.

You really should avail yourself of this awesome Devotional book.

Recently while reading the evening Devotional for Jan 16, I felt that you would want to read it also.  And, after you read that, click near the top of the page to read the morning one also.  Both were wonderful as usual.

Please read both. You will be glad you did.

So, without further ado, to read the Evening devotional for Jan 16, HERE'S THE LINK

From 3 Years ago to Today

It was on Jan 17, 2010 that Baby Christopher received his new heart.

The picture you see here was made one week after the transplant.

Many of you prayed for him at that time and in the intervening days, months, and years.

It is a long story and if you have not heard about this or would like to refresh yourself on the details,

you might want to check out the DITs for the following dates:

Now for the realllllly good news.

Just a few minutes ago Baby Christopher's dad tweeted a picture of Baby Christopher as he is today.

What a miracle God has wrought.

Thanks again to the unknown family who provided the heart in their time of grief and sorrow.

Thanks to all the Medical personnel at all the hospitals.

And thanks to all of you who prayed for and followed the 'saga' of Baby Christopher.

If you would like to see how your prayers have been answered and see the  picture of him that was made today,  HERE'S THE LINK

Wonderful Wyoming Wildlife Video

If you love the wilderness, you will love today's DIT.

Why? What is it?

Well, it is a 3 minute 45 second video made by Scott McKinley Productions for an ad campaign for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

The elk and other animals you will see in this stunning video are serious and not the funny elk pictured here but we thought it was cute.  Oh Well.

According to the info that came in the email telling about this video, It was filmed on location at Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and The National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Wow. Those are beautiful areas.

The video is beautiful also.

So, without further ado, HERE'S THE LINK.

Amazing Grace

Seems that we have been doing a lot of music this week.

But that is how things sometimes go, I guess -- i.e. in cycles.

Anyway, This link was sent to us by a friend of DIT.

What is it?

Well, the title of the song is Amazing Grace.

But, what is so unusual is that it is sung by a 10 year old Brazilian boy.

He is in the 7th grade and the son of a Pastor of an Assemblies of God Church in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The fact that he is from Brazil explains why some of the words don't sound "American" --

But, wow, can he sing.

This is a 4 minute 38 second video. HERE'S THE LINK

Glass Harp

 Yes, glass.

Not your usual harp such as the one pictured here.

But, Wow, amazing.

You have probably seen variations on this unusual 'instrument' but you will still appreciate the talent and the music.

So, what do they play and what is this unusual instrument?

Well, two players play "The Sugar Plum Fairy" by Tchaikovsky.

And, re. what is the 'instrument'?

Well, you just need to see for yourself in this  2 minutes 37 seconds video.

You will love it.  HERE'S THE LINK

Holland? Netherlands? Or ?

Hmmmm. This is unusual, informative, educational, and interesting.  It is also a hoot.

What?

Well, have you thought that Amsterdam was in Holland?

Right.  Likely you have.

But, guess what.  That is not exactly correct.

What?

Yes, it is all very confusing. But also very interesting.

This 4 minute video will explain and add more details than you ever imagined.

The friend of DIT who sent this to us correctly stated that you will likely want to listen to this more than once.

And, you know what?  He is correct.

So, put on your 'listening cap' and HERE'S THE LINK

Mind Reader?

So, you think that mind readers are really reading a person's mind?

Think again.

This short 2 minutes 28 seconds video link was sent to us by a friend of DIT.

What is it?

Well, in a nutshell, it is not what you think.

In this video, the mind reader amazes and astounds and then reveals his 'gift'.

The friend who sent this link to us correctly said "it may make you reconsider what you reveal and where you reveal it !"

But since it is still early 2013, you will appreciate today's DIT.

If you are a fan of trains and beautiful piano music, you will eat this up.

Ohio State Trooper's Christmas

Yes, yes, I know, it is a couple of weeks after Christmas and

-- having returned from vacation am going through the email "in basket" and finding some things that should have been found and posted as a DIT before now.

Sigh.  Isn't that how it is.

But, rather than wait till next year -- this is so important that it should be posted now rather than wait till next Christmas.

What is it? you ask.

Well, it is a short ( 3 minute 58 second)  video clip of an Ohio State trooper recalling events from previous Christmas-es --

The point being that "Everything we do has an effect on our fellow man"

Warning: Get out your kleenex. It's a "tear jerker."

It's a Wonderful World

Amazingly and interestingly, the link today is produced by BBC as a commercial.

But, you hardly know it is a commercial.

Instead they show exceedingly beautiful pictures of this wonderful world.

As you view this brief 2 minute video you will surely appreciate the awesome creativity of the Creator God.

Of course, that was not what BBC intended.

But, there is no way to escape understanding that the things shown could not have just happened by evolution.

Intrigued? Ready to view this video? Then, HERE'S THE LINK

Warning about E-15 gas

What is E - 15 Gas and why should we worry?

Well, there seems to be a new Gasoline available.

It is not in all states yet, only a handful, but it might be heading your way.

So, should you see E -15 Gas at the pump and if your car is older than a 2012 model, you need to be aware of the serious problems this gas can produce.

In addition to less fuel mileage, it also causes serious corrosion to the fuel lines and etc.

Even worse, many major car companies will not honor the warranty on your car if you use this new gas.

A friend sent this link to a short video from Fox Business TV that gives the details.

As is often the case, there is a short advertisement before the video about the E - 15 gas begins, so just wait patiently.  What you learn will be worth the wait.  HERE'S THE LINK

Were Neanderthals human?

You have probably heard that Neanderthals were not human.

But, is this correct?

Or, is it possible that Neanderthals were human?

A very short but interesting article answers this question.

"A Saving Faith"

It is a new year and many of you are likely 'doing your daily devotionals' as part of your New Year's Resolutions.

The picture posted today is the famous painting by William Holman Hunt titled "Light of the World".

It is Christ standing at the door and knocking.

The picture illustrates Revelation 3:20: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; If any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me".

According to Wikipedia, Hunt said: "…The door in the painting has no handle, and can therefore be opened only from the inside, representing 'the obstinately shut mind' "

The DIT for today is a Daily Devotional written by Dr. Charles Stanley of In Touch Ministries and builds on that theme of an individual needing to open the door to their heart and mind and let Christ enter.

This very brief devotional is definitely something to consider and ponder.  HERE'S THE LINK

Heartwarming Nativity Scene

Nativity scene?

Yes, Yes, it is true that Christmas is over.  So, why a DIT about a Nativity scene?

Well, recently a friend sent us an email with a most amazing picture.

So we went out on the web to see if we could find out more about it and a link for you to peruse.

And, joy and happiness, we found a link.

So, what is this picture? you ask.

Well, it seems that …. but, rather than give it away, to see the picture and read the brief explanation for yourself.  HERE'S THE LINK

Another year Begins

It is another New Year.

Which means it is time to once again make and begin New Year’s Resolutions.

And likely one of your resolutions is ‘to read and study the Bible more this year’.

If so, then you will love this DIT (Daily Interesting Thing).

Why?

Because awhile back we received an email from Bible Study Tools dot Com telling of  great study tools they have available for free.

These include Bible Reading Plans, many on-line versions of the Bible, dictionaries, concordances, and more.

These tools will be a great help in reading and studying the Bible this year.

To read the email we received HERE'S THE LINK
