Master Carpenter

It is late spring and surely most of the Northern Hemisphere is seeing the work of the Master Carpenters.

Master Carpenters?  What ?

Well, we are speaking of Birds who are building their nests.

The nest pictured here was taken by Robert Lawton and posted on Wikipedia.

Recently (April 10) we posted a link to the Eagles in Rome Georgia that had built their nest and were raising a young egret.

And you may have seen birds nests in your back yard, on a porch, or some other location around your dwelling.

We recently discovered an intricate Bird's nest precariously placed on a porch outdoor light.

But the Nest to which we are linking today is most unusual.

Sunday Hymn - Are you washed in the blood

Today's hymn is a favorite of many.

It is often used as an "Invitation Hymn" --

And, as such, is especially appropriate for a Hymn which is sung during Passover and Easter (Resurrection Sunday).

Why?

Well, because The Lord God Jesus Christ shed His blood as He died in order to provide everyone an opportunity to accept His substitute sacrifice for their sins.

Why is this important?

Because, unless a person is "washed in the blood of Jesus" he / she can not spend eternity with Christ, God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the believers in heaven.

Think about this as you sing along with this Hymn.

Today is Resurrection Sunday

Almost 2000 years ago, The Lord God Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the required death penalty for my (and everyone’s) sins.

Three days and nights passed while he was in the grave.

But then, HE  AROSE  from the dead !!!

He was Resurrected to new life!!!

And because He arose, we, too, can live with Him forever
        IF
we confess and turn from our sins
        and
accept the free gift of His substitute death as payment for our sins.

Jesus explained this amazing transaction to Nicodemus in these words:

                     John 3:14-18...
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned:
but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ...

What is my response to this?

Well, Robert Shaw, the Chamber Singers, and the Atlanta Symphony orchestra express my response in this 3 minutes 28 seconds video.

The Debate has Changed

Many of you probably watched the Bill Nye / Ken Ham debate.

It was held on Feb 4, 2014 and was viewed by millions through internet access.

If you didn't see the debate, it is still available at this link

But the point of today's DIT is not so much as to have you watch or rewatch the debate, though if you haven't seen it, it IS worth viewing. --

Rather, the point of today's DIT is to introduce you to a brief article that was in a recent issue of the AIG Magazine, Answers.

The article discusses how the approach to the creation - evolution debates have changed.

Previously it was focused on facts.

But, now, it seems that regardless of the facts presented, minds are not changed.

Why?

Well, this article explains.

It is definitely a must read.

Today is Passover (Pesach)

Well, technically, according to the way the Jewish calendar works, Passover 2014 is a 7 day holiday (feast) which in 2014 begins in the evening of Monday, April 14 and ends in the evening of Tuesday, April 22

This is because on the Jewish calendar a day begins at sunset of the previous day.

So, technically, Passover begins this year (2014) at Sunset on April 14th.

But on the Western calendar folks tend to think of Passover beginning a few hours later at Midnight when April 15 begins.

Yes, I know -- kinda confusing -- but that is how the Jewish Calendar works.

Now, with that aside.

What exactly IS Passover ?

Well, you are likely aware that Passover celebrates the departure (exodus) of the Jewish Nation from Egypt after about 400 years of living in Egypt, most of that time in slavery.

If you are rusty on those events, check out the Biblical account in Exodus 12.  HERE'S THE LINK

The Holiday / Feast activities and celebrations observed today are not only reminders of that past event but

they are also types / prophetic pictures pointing to future events.

For example -- The Jewish Seder Supper is observed at Passover.

There are many things eaten during this Seder, each with significant symbolism.

Two of these 'special things' are the Afikomen and the Zeroa.

What are they? And why are these important to both Jews and Gentiles (everyone else) ?

HERE'S THE LINK that explains about the Afikomen and the Zeroa

An eclipse of the Moon

This eclipse is the first of 4 very interesting eclipses occuring this year and next year.

The first of the 4 takes place on April 15.

So, why are we telling you about it now instead of tomorrow? you ask.

Well, mainly because it will occur during the predawn hours of April 15, so if you are going to go outside and view it, you need this heads up.

These 4 eclipses are called 'blood moon' eclipses because of the red color produced on the moon during the eclipse.

A brief video gives insight about these 4 eclipses, how and why eclipses occur, and why they are 'blood moon' red in color.

Unfortunately there is a short commercial before the video and there is no way to stop it… so grin and bear it.

An interesting omission in the video is that it does not tell you that these eclipses are on the Jewish holidays of Passover and Tabernacles (Succoth) in both 2014 and 2015.  Hmmm.  Interesting.

And now, with that by way of introduction, HERE'S THE LINK to April 15 Blood Moon Eclipse

Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims

You may have heard of this book.

If not, you need to.

Written by Rush Limbaugh, it is the first of what is probably going to be a series.

Intended to teach young kids about history, it is actually a good read for all ages including adults.

What is it about? you ask.

Well, utilizing a talking horse, time travel, a school teacher, and middle school students --

the reader is treated to an adventure of traveling back in time to "experience the Mayflower voyage firsthand".

It tells of the early settlers who came to America on the Mayflower.

In other words, it is a book that is based on real history but presented in a fun way.

This is definitely a must read.

A #1 New York Times Best seller, you can find it at bookstores, on the internet, and maybe in your local library.
