Postal Rates have gone up AGAIN

Did you know that it now costs more to mail postcards, letters, etc?

Yes, alas, it is true.

This sad news was in a recent email we received from ARRL.

Specifically it said (quoting directly from that email):

"It Now Costs More to Send a Letter or Postcard through the US Mail.

On Sunday, January 22, postage rates rose for first class letters, postcards and packages within the US.

The cost to mail a first class letter is now 45 cents, an increase of 1 cent. According to the USPS, this is the first increase since May 2009.

The cost of mailing a postcard has risen to 32 cents, an increase of 3 cents. This is the second increase for postcard postage in less than a year; in April 2011, the USPS boosted the postcard stamp price from 28 cents to 29 cents.

You will also pay more to send letters to Canada, Mexico and other international destinations."

Thought you would want to know.

This was certainly news to me. I knew it was coming sometime this year but didn't know it had already happened. Sigh.

Amazing Logos with messages

Here we go again. Another DIT based on an email sent to us by a friend.

It is a good thing folks send such things and most of the time they probably have no idea that it will end up as DIT's.

They just got them in their email and are doing the 'forwarding thing'.

And, as you well know, most 'forwarded things' are not very good.

But occasionally you get a gem.

And this is one of those times.

So what is it this time? you ask.

Well, it is Logos.

Logos?

Yes. Logos. Those symbols or brands of various companies by which we readily recognize the company. For example the FedEx logo pictured here today.

Many times the logos are just 'nice' and cute or whatever.

But, there are some that are so well thought out, that if you study them, you will see special messages, insights, pictures, whatever within them.

The ones in the DIT today are just that.

I think you will be intrigued by what you see and this will likely inspire you to look more closely at Logos in the future to see if you can see anything 'special'.

We don't know who wrote this but, apparently it has gone around the net several times.

Perhaps, therefore, you have already seen this.

Amazing sea creatures in Antarctic deep-sea vents

Wow and we thought life was tough.

How about being a sea creature in the Antarctic.

Not only is the water cold (close to 32 degrees F) but the deep-sea vents are pouring out water that is very hot (about 721 degrees F).

What to do?

Can anything really live in such conditions?

Well, yes.

Seems that the Creator God has created some very sturdy and hardy creatures.

Of course the article reports about them with an evolutionary perspective..

But, think about it.

Could this have happened by evolution?

No.

Christopher Bear Scoots

Some of you inquired about yesterday's 'No DIT' problem. Thanks for the concern.

And they logically surmised that it might be another setback with Baby Christopher, the little boy who had a heart transplant 2 years ago when about 2 months old and a renal transplant just a few months ago.

We have followed his medical adventures on this site. You can find previous posts by entering his name in the search box in the upper left corner of this page.

But, fortunately that was not the problem. Baby Christopher is fine!

It was a totally different topic which has now been resolved.

YAYYYY.

And, speaking of Baby Christopher, though he can't yet walk, having been confined to a bed for almost his entire life, until recently --

He can now stand and has taken up scooting to get around. Walking is surely not far off in the future.

But, as for now, he scoots.

His dad recently posted a very short, 35 second, video of this scooting on YouTube.

His scooting is really cute and creative but it is his expression at the end of the scoot that is priceless.

He is being praised at the end by his parents and siblings --

but he just has a look that seems to say "so, what is so wonderful about what I did? My brother took my toys and moved them. I am just getting back to them so I can play."

Amazing Snow Art Sculptures

Well, we are in the dead of winter which means, for many folks, that it is time to stay inside, drink hot chocolate, and look out the window at the snow, ice, leafless trees, and dreary days.

But for the Snow Sculpture folks it is time to emerge and do their amazing things.

Each year their works of art are more and more amazing.

They are indeed works of art.

And, no, these are not your familiar cute snowman with a carrot for a nose.

They are much more intricate and advanced than that.

Too bad they must melt away as the year progresses.

But, at least there is a window of time when they can be viewed, admired, and photographed.

Recently a friend of DIT sent an email with many such sculptures.

Ancient Civilizations -- what did they know?

Yesterday we noticed that the site of Gobekli Tepe unearthed (pun intended) the fact that the folks that lived 'long long ago' were much smarter than the 'old earth evolutionary glasses' folks think.

We noticed that the structures at Gobleki Tepe could not have been made by folks who had just recently been apes and now were 'hunter-gatherers'.

But is this the only evidence about the advanced knowledge of our ancestors?

Textbooks and our culture (movies, magazines, TV programs, etc etc etc) today teach that ancient man evolved -- and present a 'tree' of evolutionary ancestors including monkeys and apes.

Do the known historical accounts of ancient Civilizations confirm that man evolved from apes, didn't know much, and couldn't build structures such as Gobekli Tepe?

Or did those Ancient Civilizations have inventions and technology that often parallels and even surpasses what man of the 20th and 21st Centuries can do?

Gobekli Tepe and Religion

What?

How are Gobekli Tepe and religion related, you ask.

Well, it seems that those wearing the 'old earth evolutionary glasses' tell us that that 'religion' developed and God was invented because the hunter-gatherers were bickering and etc and needed some guidelines.

But, sites such as Gobekli Tepe, which we have previously referenced on DIT, are putting that supposed origin of religion and God to rest.

How?

Well, it seems that Gobekli Tepe and other ancient sites are just too advanced in their architecture and development to have been made by hunter-gatherers who supposedly had just recently left their ape state of evolution.

Hmmm. Seems some new thinking needs to take place in the minds of the 'old eaarthers' while those wearing the "Bible is true" glasses will just smile and say, "not surprised at all."

Indeed, even the location of Gobekli Tepe on the map suggests Biblical confirmation of one the most likely early inhabited areas after the landing of Noah's ark.

The Piri Reis map that we read about yesterday is not the only 'old map' out there.

Indeed, there are a lot of old maps.

One of those is the Ptolemy World Map which is reported to have been made in the 2nd century.

A reconstruction of that map made in the 15th Century is the DIT picture of the day. It came, of course, from good old Wikipedia.

Hmmm. Seems a lot of reconstructions of maps were made in the 15th Century, aka the 1400s.

Why?

Probably because of all the exploration that was taking place in that era.

Anyway, The Ptolemy map and many many other old maps or their reconstructions are still in existence.

Old Old Maps tell us about Antarctica

Yesterday we discovered that there is land and a lot of it under the ice in Antarctica.

And, to many folks, this is rather a surprise.

But, it is not really a surprise.

What?

Yes, this is really nothing new. Land has been known to be under the ice in Antarctica for centuries.

There are maps which show the continent of Antarctica before it was ice covered.

Perhaps the most famous of these is the Piri Reis Map of 1513 which was reportedly made from maps much older than 1513.

The Piri Reis map, according to Wikipedia, ...

"…shows part of the western coasts of Europe and North Africa with reasonable accuracy, and the coast of Brazil is also easily recognizable. Various Atlantic islands including the Azores and Canary Islands are depicted, … The map is noteworthy for its apparent south-eastward extension of the American continent to depict a southern landmass that some controversially claim is evidence for early awareness of the existence of Antarctica. … "

And, when those old dusty maps such as the Piri Reis map, are compared with what is now being discovered by the use of satellites and other methods of surveying, the correlation is amazing.

Hmmm. How did those map makers know what was there before the ice fell on it? how did they know?

Could there have been folks who were exploring and mapping the world in the years and centuries after the Tower of Babel dispersion and before the ice covered Antarctica?

Were those early early maps passed down and passed down and … until we ended up with such maps as the Piri Reis map and others?

Hmmmm. Interesting. Perhaps the Bible is true after all (and, of course, it is.)

Anyway, I assume you are now wanting to learn more about the Piri Reis map that seems to have revealed centuries and centuries ago what was / is now under the ice in Antarctica.

Frogs and Frozen Frogs have been the topics for the past couple of days.

But it is very unlikely that there are many (if any) frogs, even of the frozen kind, on Antarctica.

Why? Because even though they would do well while frozen, there doesn't seem to be much, if any, of a thaw cycle in Antarctica.

I guess that is why the 'frozen frogs' tend to hang out (or hop around -- har de har) in the Arctic and far northern regions of the world.

But, what does go on in Antarctica?

What is under all that ice?

Or is it just ice?

Well, you probably know the answer to those questions in that, yes, there is something under the ice and, no, it is is not just ice.

So, what exactly is under the ice?

Recent studies have been undertaken which are now revealing information about the terrain under the ice.

Frozen Frogs

Yesterday we read about what is reported to be the world's smallest frog.

Yes! These frogs actually freeze, their heart stops beating and they stay that way throughout the winter.

The World's Smallest Frog?

Today, let's look at what is purported to be the world's smallest frog.

It is 'big' news (even if it is a tiny frog -- har har) and the news is all over the internet.

It is not the frog pictured here. It is a much smaller frog than that.

And, it is not small because it is a baby frog.

Those with evolutionary world view glasses will definitely try to make this out to be some kind of missing link.

Amazon Stonehenge

You are surely familiar with THE most famous Stonehenge in the world, the one in England.

Possibly you have visited it.

But, even if not, you have surely seen a zillion pictures of it.

However, the Stonehenge in England is only one of many Stonehenges which are located literally all around the world.

A henge was recently brought to my attention which, at first glance, might seem to be in an unusual location but actually may not be unusual at all IF one ignores the dates placed upon it (which make it of rather recent origin.)

However, if you put on your 'The Bible is True World View Glasses', the stonehenge which we will be showing you today might be (as are probably most, if not all, of the others around the world) related to the post-Babel Dispersion events.

In South America, the Amazon Stonehenge has been discovered near the Amazon River in Brazil. Hmmm. Interesting.

Yes, Christmas is over but alas, I didn't happen upon this program until today and probably this particular program will not be online very long since the Prophecy in the News folks don't leave their programs 'up' very long and soon replace them with something else.

What is it?

Well, it seems that (quoting from the website):

The Shroud of Turin

You have surely heard of the Shroud of Turin.

The picture today, from Wikipedia, shows on the Left how the Shroud looks if you just stand and view it, while on the Right is the image that was first seen in 1898 when photographer, Secondo Pia, developed the negative of a photograph he had made of the Shroud.

Understandably, the image seen on the photographic negative caused quite a stir at that time, and which continues today.

The Shroud is kept in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, located in Turin, Italy, hence the name 'Shroud of Turin'.

It is reported to be the burial Shroud of Christ but debates have raged over its authenticity.

Due to radioactive dating tests in 1988, many folks believe it is a middle ages forgery.

But, the material used for the tests included some of the material that had been used to patch the Shroud during the middle ages, after it was damaged in a fire.

So, the actual undamaged portion of the cloth has not been radioactively dated but only that which was damaged in the fire and parts of the patches which were used in the repair.

Thus, the radioactive dating tests are not really conclusive.

And now the debate continues in an article recently posted on the web in which several scientists have said that "the Shroud of Turin is Not a fake."

There is also a brief 38 second video which accompanies the article. Be sure to watch it.

For those who are skeptics and do not believe in Christ, this is another opportunity for them to debunk the Shroud.

For others, this is another possible confirmation of its authenticity.

What about Judging?

Another Barna survey

We have entered another year and many of you have doubtless made your "New Year's Resolutions" and have included such things on your list as "Read the Bible more".

But, as you are also likely well aware, just simply reading the Bible does not always translate into a changed life.

This is especially true when it comes to young Christians.

For some reason, new Believers, do not seem to realize that the Bible is filled not only with history and information on 'how to be saved' but it is mainly intended to help them grow into the Godly lifestyle that God desires for them.

Why do I say this?

Well, there is a recent Barna survey which is eye opening in this regard.

What does it say? Welllllll

8 out of 10 young Christians can't apply their faith to everyday life, according to a recent Barna survey.

And there is even more distressing information revealed in this survey.

For example, the list of the most influential Christians may amaze you as will the current views about who is saved, the number who tithe, and why people are leaving the Church.

But those are just a few of the many things uncovered in the survey.

Another New Year begins -- 2012

The Ball drops in Times Square of New York.

The Peach drops in Atlanta, Ga.

Fireworks light up the sky in many cities and communities around the world.

Families and friends light fire crackers and small firework displays in their yards.

Some people observe the passing of the old year and the beginning of the new year in prayer, reading the Bible, attending group worship services, working, or perhaps sleeping.

But, whether you were awake or asleep, reveling or worshipping, the Old year has passed and a New one has begun.

Last year was unusual in that there were a lot of ONES on the first day. 1 / 1 / 11

This year is the famous (or infamous) 2012 year with all the hype in movies, TV programs, books, and etc about the Mayan prophecies related to 2012.

Of course, no one knows what will happen in 2012. It is yet to unfold.

But 2012 is now here and there have been many celebrations around the world.

Last year there was an article on the Dailymail.co.uk website with many beautiful pictures of the celebration.

I suspect that the celebrations will be similar this year as 2012 was ushered in.

So, since 'fireworks are fireworks' and 'celebrations are celebrations', the DIT today is a redux of those pictures. HERE'S THE LINK

Another year ends!

2011 is almost gone and 2012 is almost here. Wow. Time flies.

In fact, as I have mentioned to several folks lately, time is flying so fast that the pages on my calendar are producing a breeze like a fan!

As 2011 ends and 2012 begins many will be celebrating in various ways.

Some will be at wild and raucous parties doing things that they will likely regret the next day.

Others will quietly celebrate with family and or friends playing games, watching videos, reminiscing, etc. etc etc.

Many will be working at their jobs, traveling, sick and in hospitals, or at home sleeping.

Some will be in churches worshipping - or at home praying and reading the Bible.

What will you be doing? Will you be partying? Will you be reflecting?

If you do decide to ‘reflect’ you might want to consider the fact that In 2011, as in all years, many many many people died and passed into eternity.

2011 was short but Eternity! That is a long long time.

Where will you spend it?

Perhaps you should give this some thought as 2011 ends.

Wonderful Music with Harmony !

Do you remember Harmony in hymns and other church music?

Harmony is different from the unison notes (pictured here) in the now ubiquitous 9/11 songs.

What are "9/11" songs? you ask.

Well, they are 9 words repeated 11 times in unison and usually with loud snare drums.

And, alas, 9/11 songs in unison with loud drums seems to be all you hear in most churches these days.

So if you are yearning for the 'old' songs with harmony, no drums, and a message that is often better than the sermon, you will want to visit the link today that goes to a site that I happened upon while surfing.

What is it?

Well, it is a site with FREE (don't you love that word 'free') music that you can download or listen to by streaming if you don't want to download.

The site says it is "Providing a Heritage of Decidedly Godly Christian Music."

And, after listening to one song (O Worship the King) by streaming, it seems their description is accurate.

It is definitely not a 9 / 11 song and has beautiful harmony.

How a Tornado saved Washington D.C.

As you are likely well aware, there have been several severe Tornado outbreaks in recent years including the tornadoes that came through our area at DIT.

So, you might say that 'tornadoes are on our mind'.

Some places seem to be more prone to tornadoes than others while in other areas of the country tornadoes are rather rare.

For instance, how often have you heard about tornadoes occurring in Washington, D.C. ?

Not often, you say. And you are correct.

In fact, according to Dr. Forbes, the severe weather expert at the Weather Channel, there have only been 9 tornadoes in Washington D.C. since 1814.

Wow. Only 9. Now that IS rare.

But what is even more interesting is that one of those tornadoes, the one that occurred in August of 1814, actually saved Washington D.C.

Saved it? How can a tornado save something?

More Christmas Music

What is it this time and why are you still posting Christmas music? you ask.

Well, I know that Christmas is over but Christmas music is wonderful all year long.

And this music is not only Christmas-ee but the instrument and the player are most unusual.

Have you ever heard a carillon? Do you know how it is played?

I have heard the carillon at Stone Mt. Park in Georgia but have only heard it from a distance and had no idea what it really looks like.

Though the carillon played here is not at Stone Mountain Park but in Pittsburg and it seems to be a mobile one rather than permanent, still it is typical of what one would look and sound like.

Listen to Handel's Messiah

It is not Christmas unless and until I hear Handel’s Messiah. Perhaps you feel the same way.

If you do. And, if you have not yet heard it this Christmas season, then you will want to listen to this.

NPR (National Public Radio) has on its website the complete Oratorio that was recorded a few years ago by the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.

It is 1 hr. 57 minutes in length including a short advertisement for some other recording or whatever (which seems to be the thing websites do before they let you hear their content these days) and comments by several musicians and commentators that precede the actual performance.

All of that preliminary stuff takes about 9 minutes. Then the program begins.

So, even if you can no longer find a performance of the Messiah in your ‘neck of the woods’ (I can’t), then, thanks to high speed internet, we can still enjoy the beautiful inspiring, God-honoring music of Handel’s Messiah.

More than a Christmas Carol

You are surely familiar with and have read the book or have seen the play, movie, or the TV version of A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.

The picture today is an illustration from the original book and depicts Marley's Ghost.

The Cinnamon Bear

A friend of DIT who has a zillion kids sent us this link.

Seems that he found it and played the first episode for his kiddos and they "loved it" so he sent it on to us to share with you.

To tell you the truth, though I am 'older than the average bear' and 'Cinnamon Bear' is a series of Old Time Radio Programs, for some reason, it never entered my ears.

Anyway, though I have not heard any 'Cinnamon Bear' programs we did have a radio that looks a lot like the one pictured in the link and we did listen to a lot of old timey programs, just not the Cinnamon Bear series.

But, knowing the person who sent the link, these programs are probably great and something you (and I) should consider.

If you have children or grandchildren, you will likely want them to hear them also.

There are a lot of programs and the 'plan' was to hear one program per day beginning on Nov 29 and going through Christmas Eve.

Well, alas, Nov 29 is long since gone.

But, you could entertain the kids (or yourself) with a bunch of these at one time while they eagerly anticipate and await Christmas day and the opening of all the gifts.

Today is the first day of Winter

The first day of winter? Are you kidding me? It has been cold and snowing in many places already and you are saying it is just now the first day of winter?

Well, yes.

But what this really means, in addition to the snow and ice and brrrrr cold of winter time, is that the First day of Winter means that the days which are so very short now will start getting longer.

A big Yayyyyy to that.

This change of the seasons is not, of course, something that only we 21st Century folks notice.

Indeed, the ‘ancients’ (who supposedly were ‘ignorant’, knuckle dragging entities according to those with the evolutionary old earth world view glasses) knew about the Winter Solstice and even erected structures (monoliths, buildings, carins, etc.) to help them know exactly ‘when’ the Winter Solstice occurred.

One of these structures is known as Maes Howe (also known as Maeshowe).

Several of the DIT folks have visited the Maes Howe site and other similar sites such as the Chambered tomb of Newgrange.

All of these sites are famous for their midwinter (Winter Solstice) alignments.

IN fact, many of these sites today have video cameras set up so we can sit at our computers and see what the ‘ancients’ saw many millennia ago.

Today is the First Day of Hanukkah

What is Hanukkah?

Well, Hanukkah is a Jewish Holiday, also known as the Feast of Lights.

It is not as famous or as well known as the other Jewish Holidays such as Passover, etc. But it is a very interesting and important Holiday.

Hanukkah is celebrated for 8 days and 8 nights and commemorates the the victory over the Maccabees and the ensuing miracles during the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem.

Hanukkah is also spelled Chanukah or Hannukah.

From One Flesh -- Or Two?

You have probably heard many religious 'experts' propose the Gap theory.

What is the Gap Theory?

Well, it assumes there is a Gap between the first and second verse of Genesis Chapter One.

And during that time period there were millions or billions of years during which evolution occurred with death, diseases, 'pre-adam-ic' people and so much damage done to the earth that God had to 'start over' anew with His creations in verse 2.

They teach / believe this because they are trying to 'adapt' to the long ages (old earth views and the theory of evolution) currently being touted by Scientists.

As part of this 'adapting', instead of accepting the creation of Adam and Eve as presented in the Bible, they teach variations on how Adam and Eve 'came to be'.

One such variation says that "Adam and Eve came from 'human-like beings' who lived outside the Garden of Eden:…"

Believe it or not, this view is being taught by Bill Dembski, who teaches at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary !

God's Perfect Way

Why? Why? Why?

This is the common cry of almost everyone when they look at the 'problems' in their life or in the world or of people or of things around them.

And even though asking 'why' is ok, you don't always get an answer or the answer you get is is not what you wanted or expected.

What to do?

God's Perfect Way by Henry Morris, Ph.D.

“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to them that trust in Him” (II Samuel 22:31).

This is the 30th verse (out of 50) in David’s great “song of deliverance,” evidently considered by God to be of sufficient importance to have it included twice (II Samuel 22 and Psalm 18) in His written word. Its testimony is greatly needed.

One of the most common excuses given by men for rejecting the God of the Bible is their opinion that His ways are unfair. Even Christians are prone to complain at the way God deals with them. But the fact that we may not understand God’s ways hardly gives us the right to pass judgment on them. He often reminds us in His word that His way is perfect and His word has been tried and proved, again and again. “For the word of the LORD is right; and all His works are done in truth” (Psalm 33:4). “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul” (Psalm 19:7).

We need to settle it in our hearts that, whether we understand them or not, God’s ways are always perfect. What He does is right, and whatever He says must be true by definition. His ways are always in the context of eternity, but we leap to judgment in terms of present inconvenience.

His perfect way is seen most fully in Christ, and His truth is heard most clearly in Christ, for “I am the way,” He said, and I am “the truth” (John 14:6). Yet Christ’s way was through the cross, and His truth was opposed by the father of lies (John 8:44). God’s way for us may also lead us into suffering and great opposition, but His way is always perfect and His word is tried and true. If we trust Him through it all He will be our buckler as He was for David. “Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him” (Proverbs 30:5). HMM

Lighthouses

Several of our friends are really 'into' light houses; many even have little Lighthouse models sitting around their home.

Others take trips to the coast just to see the various Lighthouses.

It is rather 'eye opening'.

What is it?

Verrrrry interesting -- especially since we are repeatedly being told that the USA is not and never was a Christian Nation and, therefore, the Christian God and the Christian influence needs to be removed from everything.

But is that true? Is the USA a Christian nation or is it not? Does the USA need to trash its history, culture, traditions, and God?

Dulce de leche

Some friends of DIT are currently on a cruise.

And almost daily they have been raving on their blog about a desert that they have eaten several times and now, at their request, their waiter is serving them nightly regardless of whether it is on the menu or not.

But they just rave and rave and have never said what it is.

So, being curious and loving food, I finally went to good old Wikipedia to check it out.

The picture today, which is probably what they are raving about, was on Wikipedia which said it had obtained it from the Flicker website.

Even more instructive, Wikipedia had this description of this luscious desert:

It "is a thick,creamy, caramel-like milk-based sauce or spread. Literally translated, dulce de leche means "sweetness of milk". It is prepared by slowly heating sweetened milk to create a product that derives its taste from caramelised sugar. It is a popular sweet in Latin America, where it is known under a variety of names. Who really is / was St Nick ?

It is 'that time of the year' when parking lots are full, stores are crammed with people, and traffic on the streets and highways is horrible.

At least that is how it has seemed to us the past few days when we emerged to do some errand running.

So why all these traffic jams and crowds?

Well, as just mentioned, it is 'that time of year' -- Christmas time, of course.

So people are shopping, traffic is a zoo, decorations are everywhere, and kiddos are standing in lines to see Santa Claus, aka St. Nick / St Nicholas.

But who is / was St. Nick (now revered as Santa Claus) and why is he getting all the attention when the real reason for the season is Jesus Christ.

Technology today seems to be doing away with paper maps.

Everyone now just looks on their smart phones and away they go following the GPS provided map information.

In fact, a recent visitor here used maps on the iPhone exclusively to come and go from our site. There was no paper map in the car and there were no notes scribbled on paper. Just the iPhone and an online map program.

Wow.

But, as wonderful as those smart phones are, they are sorely lacking when it comes to Biblical Maps.

Surfing USA

Stem Cells

There are stem cells and then there are stem cells.

And they are very different in their origin.

Usually when you hear the topic of stem cells being discussed, the presenters are pushing / touting embryonic stem cells from aborted babies and would lead you to believe that this is the only source available.

But there are also adult stem cells which are "a horse of a different color".

In fact the real 'action' so far in stem cell research has not been in the embryonic stem cells, as folks would want you to believe, but in the adult stem cell research.

It is the hot new thing in communications. (IPhone watch out).

Hams use all sizes of radios ranging from small handhelds like the one pictured here to really big rigs such as you will see in the article today.

Actually Ham (Amateur) Radio is not new; it has been around for over 100 years.

But, recently Ham Radio has become "the newest trend in American communication" according to a recent report on the Fox News website.

According to that article, as of Oct 2011, there are now more than 700,000 hams (Radio Amateurs) in the US.

Perfect Crash Landing

I am not sure when this took place but the fact that we have recently celebrated Thanksgiving makes it an appropriate video regardless of when it happened.

Whale fossils found in Chile

These whales were found in sedimentary (big hint) rock in the desert.

They are supposedly 17 million years old.

According to the article, the researchers don't understand why these whales were found in such large numbers or why they are in a group.

There was also a dolphin found -- not your ordinary dolphin --
it had tusks !

The writer of this article and the researchers seem to be wearing 'old earth' (evolutionary worldview) glasses.

Boys Love Football

We have been following the medical adventures of Baby Christopher.

He is now almost 2 years old and during that short span of time has had a heart transplant, been in hospitals and on dialysis most of his life, and received a renal transplant from his dad a few weeks ago.

Now, he has finally returned home and is beginning to be a real boy.

As you can see from this picture, he is a typical real boy because "Boys Love Football".

His dad, as you recall, is a sports writer and amongst other things covers College Football.

So, I guess you could say that Christopher has many reasons to love sports and football.

But that is a topic for another time.

The reason for today's DIT entry is that his mom has posted a very poignant article on his Caring Bridge Website.

In it she discusses some of what God has taught her through this experience, which some could correctly call an 'ordeal'.

It is one thing to hear a sermon on the topics she discusses. But it is totally different and more profound to hear a first hand report of what God has personally taught someone as they endured trials and tests.

The Gettysburg Address

On this day, November 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln delivered the now famous Gettysburg Address.

That was almost 150 years ago, well technically 148 years ago.

It is still an awesome speech and worth remembering:

Noah's Flood - was it local or world wide?

Baby Christopher Update

6 weeks and 1 day ago Baby Christopher, who is now almost 2 years old, received his Kidney transplant (from his dad).

He, Christopher, has been in the hospital post renal transplant allllll this time.

This, of course, followed his heart transplant from an unknown donor almost 2 years ago. And he was in the hospital for over a year after that surgery because of the myriads of complications.

The picture today was taken in the hospital a few days ago. You can definitely see the progress he has made in the past 6 weeks.

Why are we mentioning this now? you ask.

Because, at last, there is GREAT GREAT NEWS!!

Christopher has been discharged from the hospital and as this DIT is being posted is on his way home !

The posting on his Caring Bridge website at 4:46 PM PST on Nov 9, 2011 tells of this great event.

Specifically,
it said that his mother …

and Christopher left Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland moments ago

to make the 110-mile trip home …

Six weeks and one day after the transplant.

We are so thankful to our wonderful, merciful God for His continuing answer to our prayers.
(And we're thankful for all of you who have prayed for Christopher.)

Knew you would want to know so you could rejoice with him, his family, and his friends.

Going to school as a robot

Well, he is the editor of this book and has gathered together several authors who have each contributed a chapter in this book, some of whom were the writers of the articles you have been reading in this series.

They include such folks as Thomas and Nita (his wife) Horn, Gary Stearman, Noah Hutchings, Chuck Missler, Sharon Gilbert, John McTernan, and several others.

The lead off Chapter by Tom Horn is worth the price of the book in itself. It is the paper he was going to present at the American Academy of Religion.

We don't know if the paper was ever accepted and presented but while looking for it online to share with you and not finding it, decided to do the series instead.

So, as we end this series, if you would like to get this book and read that very detailed and in depth paper plus even more about H+, and its pros and cons by the other authors, then this book is for you.

I did not agree with everything that some of the authors said; but when does one agree with everything in a book such as this?

With that caveat, it is an important, groundbreaking, and very informative book on the topic of H+

GM pigs could provide human organs by 2013

Today let's read another secular article in support of H+ (transhumanism).

We don't know whether or not the author knows this is transhumanism or if he cares or understands the implications of what he is reporting.

But, now that you have been reading this series, you likely understand the implications of this very brief article.

Usually, as is the case in this article, the key to acceptance of this new direction in science is touted as another wonderful and helpful advance in medical treatments.

But, usually the ethical implications are totally overlooked, again as is the case in this article.

Why are the ethical implications overlooked?

Well, as has been mentioned previously and as you have no doubt also ascertained, since the theory of evolution is now the guiding worldview of most of the scientists and writers today, they believe that there is no God and thus no need to worry about any ethical implications.

So they forge ahead attempting to do things that the God that they are refusing and rejecting has said to NOT DO.

In this case, they think that GM (Genetically modified) pigs will 'help' in medical treatments.

Perhaps so.

BUT is this right? Should they do this?

What does God, the real God, the God they reject and refuse to believe exists have to say about this?

Is this a good thing?

Or are they asking for Trouble with a capital T?

Yesterday we read an article from the Transhumanist Magazine.

Today, let's look at an article from 'Technology Review', which is published by non other than MIT.

It is an article written by Juan Enriquez, a futurist, author, Chairman and CEO of Biotechonomy, and a transhumanist supporter.

He is giving direct information and insight into what Transhumanism is attempting to do and why.

He is telling us to "Get ready for a new Human Species".

Wow!

The Transhumanists really do want to "engineer life"!

Again, you might want to make notes and look for 'red flags'.

You will likely discover that the warnings in articles we posted previously, by those who are very wary of this research, are being confirmed as actual ideas, concepts, and technological feats of the Transhumanists.

For example, the article says:

"People think this technology will just change pharma or biotech, but it's much bigger than that. For example, it's already changing the chemical industry. Forty percent of Dupont's earnings today come from the life sciences. It's going to change everything; it will change countries, who's rich and who's poor. It's going to create new ethics."

As you can readily see, this is real, moving fast, and folks need to pay attention to what is going on in the field of Transhumanism.

Today we are going to do something new on DIT.

New? What?

Well, usually, as you have noticed, each day is a stand alone topic.

But today and for the next few days, we are going to go into more depth on a single topic.

Why?

Because it is an important subject and one which is too detailed to adequately cover in one day or even in the short time to which we will be giving it.

The topic, as you may have surmised from the title of today's DIT is "Transhumanism".

You may not have heard about this or you may have a smattering of information on the topic. But it is an important one and you need to know what is coming down the pike.

Why?

Because it will have (and is already having) a direct influence on your life!

Today, we will begin by looking at the Wikipedia definition of Transhumanism.

As you read the article, remember it is written by folks who, for the most part, have an old earth evolutionary world view.

You will also notice that there are many pros and cons about Transhumanism.

Transhumanism is far down the road in its development, much farther than you might have suspected.

Well, as starters, there is the magazine, Called H+, and various groups and organizations are actively promoting and advancing its work with many conferences and meetings being held.

This is no little thing.

So, let's begin by reading what the supporters and advocates of this new direction of scientific 'advancement' have to say about it in the Wikipedia summary.

As you read, you might want to take notes and if something seems to be waving a 'red flag' of concern to you write it down and think about it.

It is October and folks across the northern hemisphere have likely closed and covered their pools by now.

But, there is one pool that will likely never be covered and not because it is not in the northern hemisphere --
